Give weapons more power but make aiming harder

Post by kaalus »

I hate games (like Half-Life 2) where you need to hit a guy 10 times before he goes down. This kills all shooting pleasure! REALITY COUNTS - especially in Project Reality! One-two hits and he's dead. To balance it out, aiming should be made much harder.

Btw. M16 is currently quite handicapped because it limits burst to 3 shots. In reality this limit is great, but sadly not in BF2, because 3 torso hits are often not enough to put down a guy, so you have to squeeze the trigger several times. Are all these guys Terminators or what?

Actually, 3 rounds burst isnt all that great, due to recoil, the 1st bullets hits its target @ about 100 metres, and usually the rest all miss. Play the game using semi-automatic mode, your acccuracy is like alot better. Sometimes it only takes 2 bullets to take someone down if you shoot them in the chest.. its depends on what gun your using.

ak 47 could easily down someone with to chest shots. but its useless on full automatic. there was a program on tv where some bloke fired at a van about 20 feet away and hit it only 4 times or something

lol, that means whoever was using it, must of been a weakling and couldnt control the recoil, or simply didnt know how to use the most simplistic of ARs.. :P

AK-47 and most of its derivatives, are actually quite accurate to about 200m firing in 2-3 rounds burst.. Dunno how that person couldnt manage to hit a van 6-8 metres away, he must of been useless.

Some AK rifles are considerably more accurate than others. The first AK-47s (not the AKM) and the Bulgarian AK types, with their heavy milled receivers, as well as Yugoslav and late AK_74 rifles from Russia, with their heavy 1.6 mm stamped receivers, are usually said to be capable of accuracy of two MOA. Most AK type rifles, with thin 1.0 mm stamped receivers, are less stable as the bullet goes through the barrel and there is consequently greater random vibration and oscillation before the bullet leaves the muzzle, and are typically only capable of approximately six MOA accuracy. Most Western military rifles are capable of 2 MOA or better.

While the M16A2 has 1 to 1.5 MOA.

MOA = Deviation of 1 inch per 100 yards

Yes, to all you people, bullets do not always travel straight and there is a thing called firing cone, buts its called MOA, and various bullets affect MOA, for example, a M16A2 firing M193 ball rounds has a MOA of arounds 1 to 1.5 while firing the M855 ball rounds its MOA increases to arounds 2.

All this doesnt matter if your within 100 yards, but when your firing at targets 500m away, 2 MOA could mean a deviation of about 10 inchs, so yes, even though your aiming at him, it doesnt necessarily mean that your gonna hit him.

As you say Juice, the better quality weapons are some what better but
since most aggressive forces don't have deep pockets to buy the better stuff, the stamped out stuff is cheaper to issue the troops.

To get people to play on the side of the bad guys the devs always make thier guns more accurate than they really are or should be.

I almost ALWAYS use semi-auto...unless it is close, really close, combat...normally then you don't even need the ironsights. Just practice!! :)

Well, the MEC is a fictional Military force, and presumably got there weapons/vehicles from Russia, given the AK-101 that the MEC forces uses are the same as what the Russian army uses, and are rated to have 1.5 MOA ill say they are fairly accurate, closed to the M16s in accuracy. The Ak47 in the game are supposed to be the Type 56 that the Chinese clone, way back in the 1950's, and are known to be quite rigid in design. There accuracy are about on par with the Russian version of the early AK47s
