Annoyed

Post by DirtyRat »

First time playing today.

I have NEVER been kicked from a game professing realism before, playing 5+ years of realism mods across different games and tonight I was kicked for the very reason I am a new player.

1. I have no idea wht to do...a bit of help IN GAME would be good and is completely feasible in the BF2 engine..I was told to go read the manual - so i ask WHERE IS IT?

2. I had no squads I could join, and ended up walking/running for MILES..this does not a good game make no matter how realistic you think it may be.

3. I asked for help and guidance many times and nobody replied.

4. The whole system for requesting crew status or similar is flawed, many times i spawned in an APC for example only to be told I didn't have status...when I jumped out and requested it i was told to go back to base...when i went back to base i was told i already had it...ARGH!!!

I think many elements of this mod are fantastic, but the complications I have outlined above are limiting your playerbase substantially.

Are you sure you where playing Project Reality v0.5? Maybe you joined one of those n00b servers with extra low respawn times. I've not heard of anyone being snubbed for asking questions.

The PR community is pretty friendly and helpful. Sorry you had a bad round. Next time just join a different squad or go to another server where you can find more friendly players. Oh, and welcome to PR. I know you will enjoy your tour of duty once you learn the ropes.

I was on the iGi server but i dont hold it against them, I did 2 TKs (thiking they were the enemy), and tried to figure out why I couldn't use an APC :P

Anyway all is forgiven, (goes back to the newly discovered guide :) )

Depends on the server you jumped on.. can vary widely in terms of play quality. A server with PROS means it is a Project Reality Official Settings server. I find these MUCH better as they are running a "pure" version of the mod.

Never heard of those issues with the Quartermaster system.

Player Guide is here:
http://guide.realitymod.com/index.php?title=User_Guide
(which is also linked at the top of the website on every page and from the icon placed on the desktop on installation).

Players being dickheads we can't really control. That has gotten much worse tho as many servers are running "short spawn" settings which tends to attract a less tactically oriented player (we are not going to support this in v0.6).

The mod does have a learning curve, fairly steep one too and it doesn't appeal to everybody.

If you were playing at the Tactical Gamer server, if you don't join a squad you get automatically kicked.

Read the guide, watch the videos and you should be alright.

Getting help in game can happen and cannont happen. So don't blame the mod because you didn't get help from players that didn't want to help you.

Recently, we have noticed a huge influx of players, like yourself.....but not like yourself. Gameplay, in my opinion, has recently seen a bit of a low point, due to what is refered to as 'vanilla'(Vanilla icecream, origonal salted crisps etc- Defines a player who plays like its normal BF2) players who are drawn to the mod because of some new content and hype( i think we did a little too well in advertisments lol).

hey, not everyone is a nade spammer of prone diver. Servers where you can find respectable players are servers such as Thors brigade(EU), IGI(EU, has seen alot of spammaged lately), Tactical gamer(NA) and Devfile(NA, 24.7Albasrah=attracts nilla players).

For some good names, look through this thread:

Yup, for the first time ever I saw tactical gamer admin have to literally offer an ultimatum on teams (IE 30 people US, 10 people MEC), IE make even or US players = ban.

Lets make PR ultra realistic ... forget gameplay, that just makes it popular, and since 90% of idiots (not refering to OP, but expanding on Mongols point), lets nerf the world ... a RL nade spam of nubbens.

Remember that at the right times, the Devfile Basrah server can have some of the best teamwork going.

Have had similar issues with the apc on Ejod; unable to request a crewman kit from the apc once it's in the field. Is this intentional? Don't remember it being like that... :? :

Yes, it's intentional. The APC must be 100m close to a friendly CP to be able to request a crewman kit on it.

This is to avoid the stealing of vehicles at the frontlines by some smacktards that use it like a transport for 50m.

Also a quicktip: the MEC APC is different from the others APCs because it has side doors instead of back doors. So, kit request and ammunition rearming is done by the side doors.

I find that Thors is a good server but too much like Vbf2 play and iGi to be the better teamplay serv. Although for some reason ive found the iGi guys do seem to have an amusing passion for TK'ing their own clan buddies at random intervals , not just accidents either lol.
