Kick Voting
Any chance that the % of Yes votes required to kick a player could be reduced to say - 20% of the server population?
The 50% limit simply doesn't work as most people ignore or miss the vote.
I have never seen a succesful vote to remove even the most egregious pain in the arse player.

Kick voting should be left alone or modified to be handled within ones own team, especially since as it is Clans can seriously affect the outcome depending on how many members are in a server. Also to keep it realistic you should keep the dicipline with in your own army and not let another army dicipline your soldier,.......except if they keep killing them, that always prevents cheating or problems with a soldier.
My friends and I have witnessed and had to endure many clans ganging up and kick voting or trying to kick vote a good player or someone they did not like for whatever reason because they wanted to eliminate the competition or one of there little members got his feeling hurt by someone that was owning them the whole round.
If anything commanders should be given (if possible) the ability to dicipline a player on there team. Since the only reason to kick vote someone in PR is if they are doing something detrimental to there own team, or cheating but either way that should be left for there own team to dicipline.
Here are some suggestions for Commander dicipline,......
1.remove them from all squads limiting there ability in the game
2. increase the players spawn time
3.commander kick option with the squad leaders voting but the commander overide availible.
4. A commander overide on a kick vote.
5. The SL's or commander from the opposite team can request a kickvote to the enemy commander, but you can only vote someone off your own team.
I definitly think the team commander should play a key roll in KV someone on his team, hopefully it will also encourage someone to play the commander roll. Right now we could use more good commanders,.....or at least any commander at all.

This happend to me last night on the DevFile 24/7 Basrah server last night. I was basiclly in the wrong place at the wrong time and got accused of driving a spawn car into the water, when I spwaned into it after it had been driven into the water. Then for the rest of the round people tried to kick vote me. Then when we switched sides for the new round a bunch of people tried to kick me again. There were never more than 14 votes against me, but it leads me to believe that alot of people just choose yes on a kick vote for the fun of it. I never did anything wrong, but somehow half the people on my team seemed to think I was some kind of sabateaur (sp?) Needless to say that was about the most annoying 45 mins of my life in BF2. And I take pride in my online persona and my real life one too, and I don't need some guy who thought I did something ruining it for me.JP*wasteland.soldier wrote:No way. Also, with the vote bug that plagues DevFile (I believe I was told it's because it's a 24/7 map and never gets reloaded), you KEEP getting kickvoted every time someone new joins the server.
It is kind of nice though, since it lets me know very obviously when someone rejoins after I've kicked them

I was there for that. The idiot's playername was mavlo or something similar. I spawned in the car just as he was approaching the airport when I told him to turn around or I'd c4 us both (can't stand guys glitching into the airport with spawn cars). He jumped out leaving me in the exclusion zone where I gunned his dumb *** down and tried to take the spawn car back to Industry. Some guy spawns on me and I slowed down to let him out if he wanted without getting him killed and the prick shoots me "for taking the spawncar out in the middle of nowhere". I pointed out what I was doing and which direction the car was facing at the time when he went silent...
The Devfile server definitely needs more admins on after 2100 EST though.

The closest i have seen was 36/39 on Mutrah sicty when Bashol TKed me me a heli, back in the chronicals of .4
Im quite sure that was enough.
Maybe a reduction to 35-30% would be more respectable.
i think 10/64 man server is very low. I pub with about 10ish people regularly and if i were to get into 'who TKed who' arguement, even if it was me who was in the wrong, i would have the support to get the player off the server. Especialy with clans playing, it would be easy to do so.

Witch hunts are so 1600's
To dislexiclawyer
Was it this bunch of people?

I remember about to take off in an a10, when boom, some ******* blows me up on the runway, and the other a10 and both cobras. As you can imagine, everyone was pissed off, and the witch hunt began.
When it asked me if I wanted to punish the culprit I said "Hell yeah!" and just pressed page-up without noting the name. Anyway, everyone in the team was yelling bloody murder. I asked "who the F*ck was that?", and someone said "I think it was dislexiclawyer, he was driving spawncars off into the river earlier." And so the witch hunt began.
If you are innocent then I appologize - my mistake. I'll be more careful in the future.
Anyways I'll also throw out a big thanks to Salad_Shooter - he did an excellent job commanding the forces and giving the a10's plenty of great almost-realtime targets and tactical info, while somehow managing to balance it all with commanding the forces! 1/2 my points go to you dude!
USMC sure kicked *** that round - the insurgents didn't know what hit em! 45 minutes later it was ~400+ USMC - 0 Insurgents. What a game.
Regarding kick votes, I think it would be much more effective if a kick vote requires the commanders authorization plus all his SL's. Most SL's are generally thoughtful. So it would be sort of like a military tribunal, for those of us who know how those work...

Ya I hate when people try to kick someone because either they got themselves killed and need a scapegoat or someone took "their" vehicle or some stupid **** like that.

Yeah I recognize some of the people, that must have been after I left. Its funny that someone said that it was probablly me because I believe I was in a tank with phantom shadow, or something shadow (I should have written it down) at that time. At one point people from the other team were like holy **** what did this dislexiclawyer guy do to piss everyone off. And my anwser to them was nothing. Early on in the game I got TK'ed by someone in the cobra that I think might have been on purpose. 2 Spec-Ops guys and I were on the ground moving towards Village and the cobra lit us up, but I suppose it could have been a genuine mistake, although we were the only friendlies in that area at the time. But once they stopped trying to ruin my day the round went pretty well. I had a really good run in a tank circling the mosque. We were destroying spawncars and technicals left and right, and we had a ton of close calls. Definately the most fun I have had in a tank or APC.'[-=IDSF=- wrote:SykloAG']To dislexiclawyer

As much as i agree that there are too many a**holes out there that need to be kicked from servers, and i also have yet to see a successful kick vote in PR, no matter how dumb the person is, messing with the system could have potential downsides.
For example, last week i kicked this guy from my squad because he wasn't listening, wasn't communicating, and was off doing his own thing. fair i think considering the level of teamwork needed to win in this game. he rejoins, i rekick and then lock the squad. he proceeds to rant and have how horrible of a person i am with a variety of 3 and 4 letter word descriptors.
anywho, his level of hate for me grew to such a level that he actually started an "anti-OGG" squad (my full tag is <OGG>Comet241) and got a fellow croney with him and they back to back started kick votes. Long story short, the kick vote bug started up (where every new person that joins starts a kick vote against the last person to be kick voted....) and before long, i must have seriously had 25 kick votes in a row on me over the course of an hour in this round.
The point of this whole story is that despite the fact i did nothing wrong and this 12 year old thought he was so great that he had to spend his whole round trying to tk me and kick me, each vote seemed to garner about 10-12 votes for yes out of like 25-30 needed each time. Funny, ain't it? The problem is that if you lower the kick votes needed, you may run into a problem where honest people are wrongly kicked.
Instead i propose this: Server admins! Watch your servers! We understand that there are often too few admins or not enough time, but ive seen many popular servers constantly populated, with admins never, ever around. just be vigilant, i suppose thats as decent a solution as we'll get right now.
