Minimap zoom

I'm sure its been posted before but I want to know is the zoom on the mini-map a bug or is it supposed to zoom out by itself all the time? What I mean is I have zoomed the mini-map right in, then whenever I check the big map, check the scoreboard or even spot the enemy using 'Q' when in a vehicle it zooms right out and I have to adjust it again. Its really annoying, it didn't do this on vanilla and its become the most used button I have to press it all the time. It should only change zoom level when I change it and at no other time.

Because your scale of movement changes when you are in a vehicle, you can move much faster and thus can go across more of the map in a shorter period of time. Thus more of the map is displayed.

That doesn't explain why the zoom level changes when I check the score-board or when I press M. Or even why it changes when I spot an enemy from inside a vehicle.

Like I said it didn't do this in vanilla only in PR, I'm having to press the zoom button 10x more than in VBF2. I press it so much I moved the key binding to 'C' since I now have to press it every few seconds.
