BF2 and PR on Vista

Post by Fragsome »

I recently uppgraded to Vista, the uppgrade has for the most part been a good experience with the exception of playing my favorite game BF2 and PR. For some reason certain maps (Basra) would have some much lag\delays that it could not be played, at first I thought it was the server but when several servers all gave me the same lag on the same maps I realized that the problem is with my system.

I found the solution to my problem and that was to run BF2 and PR in windows XP SP2 compatibility mode, all maps are now running great and I have no more problems :-)

I have heard others experience problems when running in this mode and so I wanted to start a thread on this to get others input.

Rock on!

Thanks!

FYI - in order to run the game in compatibility mode you must do the following: Right click the BF2 and or PR icon and select properties, click on the Compatibility tab and check the box [Run this program in compatibility mode: [Windows XP (Service pack 2)

I know that some users get the message telling them to insert the BF2 CD\DVD and I am not sure why, perhaps others can provide some input on this so that we can find a solution.

"I belive the lag experienced when not running in compatibility mode is caused by Vista using resources to emulate the Windows XP enviroment the game was designed for."

Thanks,
