PR's new factions

Post by Army Musician »

This gets mentioned alot in other topics, myself included.
so lets do a vote, that way the dev team can give us what we want.

We have the BRITISH, and the Americans, the MEC is unrealistic and China is a not totally unrealistic, however I dont think they would go to war with the west for the reason, they would have too much to lose.

Italy...

I'm puzzled by some of these suggestions though.
Iran: would be pretty much identical to today MEC
N. Korea: would almost be identical to China
Israel: would be almost identical to the US, apart from some unique armor
France: Ok
Germany: Ok
Lebanon: What's the story with this one? The lebanese army have not seen action for a decade.
Russia: Ok

Iran would be a part of the MEC, surely?

North Korea and Israel seem like the most likely to get involved in a conflict out of any of those choices and would be unique to PR for the most part

None. PR has enough factions to work with as it stands. United States, United Kingdom, Middle-East Coalition, China along with the Insurgents and Militia are more than enough. At most all I want to see are "sub-factions" of sorts. Like having a seperate U.S Army, U.S Marines side. Maybe having a "Special Forces" for each conventional army.

Though if I did have to go with one of the armies, my vote would go toward Israel. They offer some unique equipment of their own, and have an interesting position in the middle-east that would definately make them an opposing force against the MEC.

I agree with Terranova -- Sub factions would be the best if anything.

My vote goes to, out of those, Israel.

Techincally, through the "lore" or "backstory" of PR, both Israel and North Korea must already be involved in the conflict depicted in the mod. Just read the map briefings behind "Jabal Al Burj"and "Hills of Hamgyong". Jabal Al Burj taking place inside Israel, and Hills of Hamgyong within North Korea.

PMC's arent one of the choices? They play a bigger role right now than any of those factions. And all those factions would require new models so why not PMC's? It would balance out the power issues between insurgenst vs. other. Common they would be the most fun class.

Israel and Russia.

Canada if there is time.

Israel is very unique in terms of weapons and vehicles and is a natural enemy for the MEC.

Russia is a classic army with many well known and well loved weapons and vehicles.

NK would be very similar to China. Iran and Lebanon would be MEC I think. I would actually like to see MEC go and Iran emerge as the new ME faction in order to more accurately reflect reality once 1.0 comes.

Germany has not been really involved in a war for a long time and other than G36's it's not very interesting. If you want to play them POE and OPK might be fun...

Canada is great and will fit Afghanistan maps very well and it has its own unique vehicles and weapons that just happen to look similar to American ones. I'd love to see it in game though.

Considering that most of this game occurs in the middle east, that two of the factions are most likely enemies of Israel, and the fact that if you want to kill Russians, you can go play PEO or Operation Flashpoint. Israel is pretty much the source of much strife in the middile east, so it just makes sense to have them. But still, there isn't any need for a new faction.

Yeah and please put in the C-7 rifle, (if you do Canada). Just a scoped version of the M-16.

I firmly believe adding more factions is a waste of time for the developers. They could be working on more important things.

For one, the British models are... sub-optimal. No insult intended to the guys who made it, they're very talented and they've done a good job, but modelling people is very difficult and it's hard to match professionals who get paid and have more time and resources to work with.

I recommend to work with what we have. Add maps, weapons, and vehicles above all. People love variety of vehicles. I don't want to see more clone factions. So unnecessary. They all have military equivalents, the only unique faction is the insurgents.

Anyways, add more planes (two seaters!), work on the SOFLAM, the usual bugs, more maps, more weapons, more vehicles in general. That kind of stuff. Another faction isn't worth the time and resources.

Someone else could probably answer this better but I'll give it a shot.

Guns are very similar just manufactured in Canada with small design and manufacturing differences.
C7 vs M16
C8 vs M4
C9 vs M249

Vehicles are quite different
Leopard C2 vs Abrams
Lav III vs LAV-25
G-Wagen vs Humvee
etc
