PR 0.5 Coop Server available

I have put up a PR 0.5 Coop Server with 20 bots (10 per side)

This server has BattleRecorder.

It only has 1 map - Operation Compton.
Mao Valley was the only other mod that came up in Coop mode - but it crashes any time it tries to load. Does anyone have any advice to fix this.
I am using dedicated server files.

2 players are needed to start the game, I wish I could make it 1 player but PR does not seem to allow this. Vanilla BF2 and every other mod allows 1 player to start the game.

This seems to be the only PR Coop server. I am open to suggestions if anyone has particular server settings that they would like to see. Post here or PM me.
This message has also been posted in the singleplayer forum but I figure it will get more attention here. Forum admins please delete one if you need.

Please remember to change the game mode select. In the top right corner of the server selection screen there is a game mode selector. The default for this is conquest so the coop server will not show up. Change this to "all" to see coop and extraction servers as well.

I applaud you with your efforts...but as a trivial question: what's the benefits/attractions/reasons for coop?

As an admin could you use the "SV.NumPlayersNeededToStart 1" thing?

But I agree, are there many people looking for co-op? The bots aren't particularly well suited for the playing style are they?

Still Ive never played that map, so I may come by just to check it out :P

amlimey, check out the SinglePalyer forum to get advice on how to enable COOP on numerous other PR maps :)

JOTR coop worked nicely for group gaming over TS. It made for leisurely evenings and good map/terrain planning. It always has a place.

Well theres a few deals, #1 even with the server listing on BF2 set up to all, had to use the link ya gave me for ip/port

#2 I start the game and need another person like ya said ;)

and #3 :roll: the AI was ... quite interesting

I start off as british and run out eastward, thinking the enemy is at thier uncap hundreds of meters away, instead they have two 50 cals and a tank, already parked at our frontline... I try to sneak up but they have better aim than most humans O.o

Also the AI squads just sat there >.< until I joined and hit page up to be squad lead, did they mindlessly attack the marker and die to chinese fire like I did :lol:

I think ill go play with some people :P a bit easier

workingrobbie - My clan is using this as an idiots guide to playing PR. A place to try the mod and learn how to play it.

Vicktor Vauhn - That is the server setting but even though it is set to 1, the server process appears to ignore and override this. I am using BF2CC to control the server, that line is <PlayersToStart>1</PlayersToStart>. When I re-connect BF2CC client to the daemon, the display shows that setting as 2, even though the profile has it as 1.

TroyMcClure - Just for fun is the best reason to use coop. If you think commanding humans is tough, try commanding bots! Please use the recorder to download and laugh at the game all over again

[R-DEV]Gaz - Thanks for the advice on SP forums. I know that coop takes a back seat to MP. I will use that forum for Coop technical advice.

[R-PUB]MrD - Yep, its mainly for the amusement of my clan, but open to the PR community.

Doom721 - Is it possible that some of the server filters were stopping you from seeing the server. I currently have PunkBuster disabled, as I was checking to see if this was contributing to players to start issue. Same mod should be the only filter checked.
I would like to see 1 person be allowed to start the game - I hope to get some PR Dev advice on if this is possible.
I can change bot intelligence. I agree, too many times the Bots would kill me as soon as I spawned. It's a trade off between stupid bots and clever bots.

I agree that it is not long before you are ready for a real battle. This place is a PR noobs server, just for practice and I hope some fun.

:lol: Thanks man, that explains why I couldn't see it but im by far not a beginner to PR got about 500-600 hours of it says ABR :smile:

Just something about bots, I mean you really CAN'T target practice moving targets without a moving target, sometimes ya get rusty you know ;)

Start Multiplayer, Create Local, choose your map when map has loaded bring down the console [¬ or ~]and type..... sv.numplayersneededtostart 1 ...now go play with yourself.

NOTE: you can also set this in 'mods\pr_sp\python\game\realityconfig.py'
Should get you sorted :) You can edit the line in the realityconfig.py file and save it (I suggest backing it up first), or you can do the console command each time you are on.

Gaz - Thanks - that was it.

I was able to modify the python file to get this to start single player.

Now I can play with myself. You can all play yourselves!

Why would I want to play with a bunch of AIs?

It is because that the bots are more intelligent than some human players out there... Though I'm guessing that the bots won't be able to move the vehicles without the certain kits...

I would rather play with a good group of squadmates that can actually understand what I tell them to do.

i suggest making it 0v20 so its just who ever is human versus an army of bots

Eh, JO's COOP was more of a scenario kind of thing, 10 humans versus an army of AI and objectives to do...

Maybe we could code a Coop Scenario mode thing...start at a point, proceed through enemy lines, destroy comm center, bridges etc...

coop can be brilliant at times, i remember hard justice mod, that had amazing coop humans v army of bots, granted that was more like vanilla but still fun.

Such as?
We have the bots driving and flying just about everything with wheels, tracks and/or wings in PR.
Granted, they are not human and will never be but they do the job quite nicely. Even the infantry is working "decently"... ;)

Playing Al Basrah in SP with 40 bots or more can get quite intense at times! ;)

The bots are smart enough to drive tanks and accurately use Machine Guns.
Many times I have been killed by a bot as I spawned into the game.

The bots have attitude, some will obey orders, some will not. Pretty much just like real players.

This server is just a bit of fun. My clan is using it to learn how to play the PR mod
