PR .6 Al Basrah In Need Of Bunker

Post by Cheeseman »

Will if any of you have played OB .6 then you'll notice that the new Al Basrah map no longer has any underground bunkers. This is not very realistic, since a lot of insurgents in reality seem to hide their weapons and ammunition underground. They do this, because the coalition forces usually make unsuspected sweeps of people’s houses for ammunition and weapons. I suggest adding at least one deep underground bunker at Village and have the present pick up kits and ammo dumps for that location placed in the bunker. I’m suggesting the underground dugout to be placed somewhere at Village, because there are a lot of open farm lands which can be used to hide the bunkers entrance.

Much like this photoshoped image I made:

It could be about 4 to 5 feet deep.

Hers a real life example:

Will this is actually a spider hole which Saddam was hiding in, but it’s the thought that counts. :-)

duckhunt removed the bunkers when he redid the map. I could add one or 2 back in, may take a little bit of work.

Thanks Rhino, BUT... is it possible to somehow make it similar to the photoshoped image I made? Since the bunkers in .5 were designed quite unprotected and could easily be destroyed by HE rounds going off above it. Something along the lines of 4 to 5 feet deep would be nice. Will... deep enough that the British would have to drop a grenade in before they could be sure it’s clear to enter. But I don’t want to be overdoing the whole suggestion thing into a personal interest subject. :-)

Cheeseman, I don't recall any of the bunkers in .5 basrah being destructable. They where for the most part just houses placed underground.

It's a shame none of them made it into .6 -- the one with the SVD was a cool one.

Now where in the hell did you get the word "destructable"? :D

I said "unprotected" as in you'll die if a HE round goes off above you and by "easily be destroyed" I mean the ammo dump being easily destroyed.

Eah don't worry about it, my suggestion isn't anything urgent. Do what you need to do first, cause you seem to be a busy man with all these bug reports being thrown at you. :p

Can't you just put four buildings undergrounds so they form a square hole then add another building door facing at the end of the hole and a ladder to get down, then put one of the destructible building with no floor over it ?

Ay Rhino I think I got a solution; how about using this EA model:
Image

Place it underground to look something like this:

Or change the textures to match around it:

the mapper has to 'dig' out a hole in the ground to put it in, and you needs to be perfect, takes time. but IMO pays off.

right but those foxholes have nothing to hide them...undergrowth will follow the terrain down...they would be real easy to pick out BUT a good idea DF

Put a couple palm trees around them, maybe even something like the grass fields that PR made to cover the area around them?
