Latest Insurgency Mode Update.

Post by MadTommy »

Please read info from Eggman on how Insurgency Mode works.. (ammo dump hunt)

http://realitymod.com/forum/showthread. ... post386801

We have too many ‘muppets’ who wreck the game play on Basrah by ignoring the game mode rules and features. So these are the new ones. Please read before playing the beta.

Lets HELP the Devs with THEIR vision and play the game as its is designed to be played. Shooting civilians etc works against your team.

how about a higher punishment to the players score who kills civies or something, as thats all they care about not how it affects the team.

Perhaps there should be a message to the player who kills civilians so they know why they are waiting so long to respawn? Would be nice if that could happen while they’re waiting to spawn, give them time to contemplate their actions ;) .I suppose people will learn soon enough though.

That would be hilarious. They respawn as a BBC news reporter and have to take screenshots of frontline action without dying/being taken hostage. :D

I would love to go freelance reporter, trying to get the best pictures and selling it to the news network.

Is this new set of rules a server side change or will there be a .6c beta released? He mentioned .606 client side patch, are they patching the beta?

Either way I love this game mode, it has been really great with a solid squad to play either side on this. I hope that there will be a few more maps that have this style of play.

Not to be an a$$ but it isn't clear in Eggs post as to how the rules were going to be implemented. He refered to it in the heading as .605c. Later on he states:

"Note that this is not the final Al Basrah layout for Insurgency, there are still changes to come in the next client update, but these are the last major changes we expect to the game mode logic. Additional changes coming in the 0606 CLIENT side patch: Heavy Ticket bleed for Brits when they lose VCP, different starting ownership for Palace, More spawn locations for Insurgents, weapon caches will require 50 cal or better to destroy, plus a few other changes. But those are for the next open beta client patch."

This is were my confusion set in, two different names given as well the indication of a patch. He did not indicate a server side update, if he did I clearly missed it and I'm sorry. Not trying to argue just clarify.

The officer class, accessible to SLs of full squads (not just 4 people), is considered SF, as far as I know. The guy gets the GP30 AK. It's a requestable kit, and can be requested at spawn cars.

As to killing civilians, I think the 10 minute kit exclusion punishment is enough to make most people think twice about shooting civvies. Most of the more trigger-happy folks who shoot civilians will want sniper kits and whatnot after they respawn, which they won't be able to get if they kill a civilian. Of course, it can get annoying if your SL can't request the officer's kit because he accidentally killed a civvie, but then, the request system was never meant to not be annoying as hell.

Thank you daranz. For a moment I had thought the Devs had implemented "under-cover" SF operators that dressed up as civilians in order to gather intel...
