High Ping...PLZ Help!!!

Post by ArmyTanker120 »

Well I'm in the US Army and stationed in S. Korea I don't live on base I live off post so my internet connection is Korean. When I play BF2 1.41 on EA Korea Servers my ping is like 5 no higher than 10 but the second I want to play PR I join any server and my ping is always at least 200. I really want to play this game online but everytime I try I usually get voted off or just booted because of the lag that I cause. Just wondering what I can do to minimize my high ping level so that I can play online more frequently...

Hey!
The problem is that there are no Korean servers for PR (at least I know none)
There is a chinese one though, maybe you can try that (I dont know the IP).
And the people saying that you cause the lag have no clue - you dont cause it.

Hey dood...I am also in South Korea serving in the USAF(Kunsan AB). I am sure that we have the same internet connection and the same speeds. I tried almost all stateside servers, but they all kick because of my high ping(240). The Tactical Gamer server has there ping kick set at like 300 or something...so give that a shot ;)

I would guess that you have enough people willing to play PR that you could start your own community there and we could come in with huge pings...lol

Perhaps looking for local server providers for other games ?

I thought Korea had an active gaming community.

Wasn't that guy that died playing a game in Korea ?

i thought that guy died playing world of warcraft for 50 hours. i really doubt many people can play starcraft for 50 hours even though its insanely popular {still} but 50 hours for WoW? hell thats probly not even a marathon run for some of the people that play it.

but a lil more on topic, i could be totally wrong about this, but i thought koreas were nuts over RPGs and strategy games, and i think theres very little interest in first person shooters. ive heard japan is that way too. that may be part of the reason your not finding any servers.

I'm also in Korea and I play nearly every evening, I can do really well on the TG server usually finishing in the top 10 of my team every round, the ping isn't really a problem to me i I like to defend flags and avoid cqb's.

An other server is the BigD Aussie server where I get ping of about 160, really nice guys here and the server is always full in the early evenings.

Ping over 200 really isn't a problem in PR like it was in BF2, not for me anyway.

If you are in Korea what internet connection do you have? I just upgraded to "Megapass" from KTF and that's 100Mb/s glass cable for about 30 us dollars a month!!!!

Sigh ...

Starcraft is ... well - Starcraft. You cannot compete.
Second of all - I want to be the first to ask the most stupid questions that nobody else asks.

So, the computer details. Your line? What version are you playing? As some have stated - there are servers with ping issues. When you are in Korea - whats your ping on some servers? Have you turned everything not relevant of BF2 off?

Hell - I'm in Norway with a monster computer and every time I want to play PR I restart the "monster" - and basically start a profile only for BF2. Anything other than the essential is turned off.

Is every darn frigging (arg arg arg arg - again arg) driver updated? Have you read some of the threads in this forum? Cause I figured out after 6 months that it was actually my mouse driver that was (bad word censor) me up.

You might just be one update away from playing this game. If you make it work - look the Helix, Thors, Tactical Gamer, STRK team up. They are pretty amazing players.
