Project Reality v0.6 Update
We're going to be releasing Project Reality v0.6 within the next 10 days or so. We're just wrapping up some details and putting together the final test build.
The Open Beta process has been invaluable for us in ironing out major kinks and issues with v0.6. A HUGE thanks to our community members who have given us feedback and helped shape this release of the award winning Project Reality mod.
Some of you might be wondering why some bugs identified in the Open Beta were not fixed. We'll never see a "perfect" release of Project Reality, but hopefully each release is better than the previous one!
Expect a v0.6 release announcement shortly (assuming all goes well in the final stage of testing).
L3DT
With the release of v0.6 Project Reality will introduce a 17 square kilometre map. We'll be continuing to stretch the limits of the BF2 engine. One of the tools we'll be using is "L3DT" or "Large 3D Terrain Generator" from Bundysoft (http://www.bundysoft.com)
L3DT is a fabulous terrain generation tool and is a "labour of love" by a very small development team. There's a free version and a trial of the Pro version. The purchase price is only about $35 for the full Pro version of this fantastic tool.
Recently [R-DEV]Rhino won the "image of the month" competition at Bundysoft. The image features a sneak peek of Project Reality v0.7 with the Challenger II and Rhino's latest map creation called "Battle for Qinling". This is a 17 square kilometre map featuring a full British Forces arsenal squaring off against the PLA.
Thanks again for your continued support of Project Reality!

Amazing work as always!
One question comes to my mind, though. It's 2:37am and my mind isn't particularly sharp at the moment: is "Battle for Qinling" the 17km map that will be released in 0.6? I couldn't tell if that specifically was the map that we would see in 0.6, or if you were referring to two different 17km maps-- that is, one in 0.6 and another in 0.7.
Thanks in advanced, and again, truly amazing work you folks are doing. We appreciate it!

Went and voted, of course.
17km map sounds amazing, BUT: Will it be playable? 64 players on all that land? Or do you have a workaround for the 64 player limit planned?

I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. ~Voltaire
If you are a serious PR gamer do not put up with the chaotic public server gameplay! There are much betteroptionsavailable. Also, be sure to avoid making these common basic mistakes.

they are playable, we have proved that with the open beta.... If we did not think they where playable, we would not make them....Apheirox wrote:17km map sounds amazing, BUT: Will it be playable? 64 players on all that land? Or do you have a workaround for the 64 player limit planned?
Also just to let you guys know, I used L3DT to do the colour maps, overgrowth and undergrowth of the map, but all of that has been edited using photoshop and the BF2editor, + other tools I use
we are just planning on using L3DT to 1, speed up production of the maps and 2, give a better quality finish
