Are you active in the organized PR gaming community?

Thought it might be interesting to find out what kind of people visit the forum.

If you have no idea what 'organized PR gaming' is or just want to find out more about the subject, I did a small writeup on the topic in the wiki guide you can read. There is a direct link to this article in my signature. An excerpt:

If you are even slightly serious about playing Project Reality, BF2 or tactical shooters in general you should consider getting involved with the organized play community as it will almost certainly be highly rewarding to you. Even though the general level of play is much higher in PR than in vanilla BF2, playing on public servers can be a frustrating experience at times: Teamkilling, inexperienced pilots constantly crashing, commanders and squad leaders going Rambo and general disorganization are all part of the day. If you are going to be playing more than strictly casually you should not put up with all this because the much better option of organized play is available.

So, are you 'organized'?

Definitely, I mentioned them specifically in the article. I am afraid I know of no other like communities. There used to be TeamPlay First but they seem to be gone now.

Feel free to add more links to the article if you know of any. Clans should post in the forum thread, though.

I was with the USM clan shortly before they switched to ArmA, they were pretty intense about tactics and stuff.

teamplay community (PR.FI) and opreal tournament
I couldn't imagine myself just going to the pubs to play on my own.. never again. It worked fine back in the days of 0.2, but not anymore,

Teamplay Community: Presently organizing (planning stages) an in-house squad in Tactical Gamer.
Basicaly a group of players with a mini forum and tags.

None - primarily because of the time commitment.

Have thought about joining a squad or clan but would have to be one consisting of adults , which are few and far between.

As if you needed a clan or something like that to find good teamworks/voip squads in PR... and all experiences I've had with clans and guilds in video games have been disappointing

Especially people who pay to be in a clan, have the same fun doing what you want, when you want.

Oh, and I forgot to say that I'm way too lazy to be in a clan... hell, I'm too lazy to reinstall games on my computer since I reformatted it !

You should give it another try. I have only had good experiences. Personally, I avoid public servers like the plague unless no better options are available. Also, you simply have not experienced 'good teamplay' till you have tried organized - it simply does not compare.

Consider a teamplay community. They do not require any special commitment.

Try for example showing up at one of Tactical Gamer's passworded sessions. You can find the password on their forums. Paid membership is not required.

I play on the TG server allot and joined their forums just to get the password for the nights they lock the server. The locked server nights are usually really good. I'm not active on their forums nor do I use their tags.

I have tried a clan and a tournament once but I didn't like the whole try out thing and time commitment. As an adult with all the things that come with it I can't garuntee my time.

PR pub servers can be really good, not always but better then any other FPS game I have played.

I did find them quit a while ago and have had some of the best FPS gaming experiences of my life over there (some not so great as well but this is to be expected on a pub server

). Other team oriented groups out there as well I found.

Who needs a clan eh??

Clans are a lot of fun. But it's a different kind of thing than just normal playing. (So there are plusses and minuses). The main difference is that when you aren't in a clan, you play games when you feel like it and when you can - so it's ultra convenient, but usually you don't have much connection with the people you are playing with.

Once you are in a clan, you actually have to show up for stuff at scheduled times, not just when you *feel* like playing. That's why even some people who game for 15 hours a week don't actually have time for a clan, because unless those hours fall at the right times, then they can't be in a clan.

For people who enjoy being in a clan, the pluses outweigh the minuses. There's just nothing like an organized clan match, it gives you a rush and each round is like 30 minutes of total immersion, with tense moments, funny moments, awesome victories and crushing defeats.

The tourney is similar to that, except since it is so big, you have less influence on those victories or defeats - I mean, that is that your squad could do amazing in a tourney match, but another squad could let down your team and make you lose regardless of how good your squad was (frustrating!). In a clan if your squad does amazing, you win! And if you don't win, it's because the other clan was even more amazing - which feels fine because then you had a well played match where both clans have a mutual respect for each other.

PR Tourney C5 is my first campaign, been a lot of fun so far with large-scale battles between 2 tactically organized and determined teams.
