I bought the complete collection.
Like the Godfather, only 2 of the 3 are worth it.
But yep get basic BF2.
I dont think that DEVs intend to make a mod for SF

Yah, the "boosters" flopped. There's only ever one populated server, which is a shame as some of the maps are really good. Operation Harvest is a really pretty, fun, map, for example. Ditto for Operation Road Rage. (Both Armoured Assault maps, ironically).
If some of the Euro guns could be unlocked, that booster would be roughly as popular as SF was, but blah - they just took the Arctic sniper and P90 and left the others =(.
Would also be nice if there was some way for people to unlock an A-10 as an alternate choice of plane on vanilla maps, but totally incongruous with the way BF works.
However, SF expansion is worth the dough, a couple of the maps are really fun, adds a fair bit of content, can unlock guns for Vanilla, and there's enough populated servers to have a good time.

I've been trying to get my last two unlocks on vBF, but I refuse to chopper-whore, etc, and got bored of snipey-snipey, so I've started using kits I generally avoided playing to get some variety. Was charging the enemy with the Jackhammer and mining the entrance to Karkand. They barely managed to get a tank through for 6 alternate rounds. Their highest scorer was a sniper whoring claymores on our spawns, and he only got an equal KDR because I kept using the wrench on the claymores after mowing him down.SiN|ScarFace wrote:I wouldn't play BF2 if it was not for PR.

Whenever I try it, I get a couple of hits in, then greased from miles away or hit by infantry because my team is getting spawn-camped because they REFUSE TO MOVE FORWARD to a reasonably defensible position. I get terrible scores, but you do feel like you are helping, as it keeps the tanks and APCs riveted to their supply-drops and scared of charging in.youm0nt wrote:I played vBF2 a few days ago just to AT rocket whore on Karkand... It's so fun because no one uses the anti tank kit on Karkand.
