More effect whilst being hit by bullet

Post by VipersGhost »

I dont like it that I can put two quick rounds into a guy (as a brit) only to see him pop me in the face with PERFECT accuracy. IMO there NEEDS to be more of an effect to a guy when he gets popped with a bullet. This is a big problem in PR for me.

1-A guys aim should be messed up, if a slight camera jerk can't be animated then a "metaphor" needs to be applied.

2-A guys stamina should be reduced...maybe to half? If you are shot in the vest I think it'd wind you a bit. I'd like it if the effect would happen only 40% of the time maybe...as some hits IRL probably dont slow you down...or do they?

EDIT: Sin Scarface has a better post...use it instead of this.

I think that the wounded soldier should get the dizzy vision thing for a second or two after getting hit.

Good Idea.

I was thinking about this earlier today.
And I came to the conclusion that it would be a good idea to use the same/similar camera jerk thingy that happens when your helicopter takes damage.

Hey do you have any moding experience on BF2 or are you just speculating? Only curious...again...lets use Sin Scarfaces post to talk.

a slight camera jerk would be good, anything else i think would be going a bit overboard, cause i dont think youll get dizzy after being shot in the (ex) leg.

This is definately something that should be looked at. Anyone ever played America's Army? I haven't played it in a while but I do distinctly remember the jerking/shaking/bouncing effect that happened when the player was under fire. It was definately enough to disoriente the player and make him/her take cover.

Anything that may throw off the player's aim and vison while being shot would be good IMO.

This would be a welcome addition, but i don't really think that it is the root of the problem.

The real problem is that there is no accuracy penalty when changing stances or moving quickly. In real life you couldn't stop from a full sprint, bring up your rifle and fire with perfect accuracy in less then a second. Neither could you dive forward to the ground and get that same perfect accuracy almost before you've come to a complete stop.

IMO there really needs to be something to simulate weapon sway after moving quickly or bringing your rifle up. I have no problem with being able to fire a perfectly accurate shot if your steady and not moving, and haven't just done the 100 meter dash two seconds ago. But the current way of always having no weapon sway, no scope drift, and no bullet deviation, 100% of the time, no matter what else you are or were just doing, pretty much makes cover and, to a lesser extent, suppressing fire, negligible.

I'm not exactly sure what can be in done in the BF engine to fix this, but for me this is by far the #1 issue with what is IMO the best mod ever made.

just speculating.
We all know the camera jerk effect is there.
Can it be made so that it will happen to players when they get hit? I have no idea. But it MIGHT be possible. :p
