Players points to tickets?

ok, here's the case:



Iw done other night some ownage in tank (forgive me for mine ego trip).
Iw earned 50+ kills for team wich means that iw take so many tickets from enemy team but what about all those useless points iw earned.

is there a way to translate player gained points to some benefit for his team, something like 10% of his points/score goes to his team tickets.

so for every 10 points you earned your team gains one ticket more.
(or some other percentage that we find suitable, maybe just 1%)

What do you think of this?

I'm not sure because most of the team work actions you do help your team to take enemy tickets anyway.

Medic keeps someone alive = one less ticket you lose

Rifleman provides ammo = more bullets to kill the enemy with

Engineer fixes bridge = yo are able to cap a flag quicker bringing in the bleed sooner

Doing this would mean that battles would take forever to play out from start to end so I'm not sure about giving tickets for teamwork actions.

Yeah, that is the main drive here... to somehow earn tickets for your team, not just substract enemys tickets?

What about reversing the system - kill an enemy = get +1 ticket for your team.
Could be a bit more motivating then .

considering that we have CNC gameplay incoming, that few gained tickets will one good commander verry easy spend to build few bunkers and firebases etc...

Im wondering, why we don't get any points for building assets actually. Been tested, shovle up some bunkers and sanbags and no change in scoring.
While as asset building commmander I got the 1th place, since I got tons of teamwork points.

Bunkers and Firebases generate tickets every 10 (or 20, not sure) minutes. But Im sure you know that. Ive seen the "ticket boost" several times but not always, so I figure it happens in the background.

One thing I dislike about BF42&2 was the ticket system. People only concentrate on how many opponents they eliminated blah blah and it all turns into a TDM no matter what the designers intended. No one cared about getting flags or anything. Only time you see people do something is when they can earn the most points for them. In FH no one cared for artillery, 'cept on maps where you could easily wrap up tons of points. Snipers never spotted because that would take time away to earn someone else points when they could be getting them themselves. Everyone camps the best vehicles because they can give more kills.

I'd rather see objective type maps. Go in, eliminate the enemy, celebrate.. or cry whatever the outcome.

Objective maps would be nice. I remember the Secret Weapons expansion to Bf1942 had some nice objective maps. Also, I think having a way to get more tickets would be a good idea, but maybe it should have to do with support points. I mean, giving up that bandage or risking your life to revive someone should be rewarded somehow, right? Maybe we would see more teamwork if every 25 support points or so that you get, you get a ticket, too.

Rounds wouldn't necessarily be endless as you can set time limits. All you would have instead of a decisive victory would be like 120-200 at the end of the map.

With the commanders spending tickets to build, i think it would be good if you could earn the tickets for him to spend. As the commander would then have the tickets to have a few bases on the different fronts....

Tickets are good if you intend to simulate something with it like limited resources.

Earning would be ok if it was linked to a goal. Like the Panzers game you gained prestige for attaining goals which you could then buy new stuff with. But the goal should not be to simply eliminate the opponent but f.i. to take a position or destroy a com-tower or similar.

I would even link the tickets to certain buildings (in my overall dream of having a Panzers like gameplay in a shooter game). Say your planes are linked to the hanger. If the hanger is destroyed you lose the ability to spawn planes AND lose the tickets you had with them.

I think the board game RISK comes close to the idea.

Rounds ending @120:200 are the games I regret playing. I want games to end with a goal. I want a sense of accomplishment. If my goal is to destroy the infidels' base, then by Allah, the map should end when one side reaches zero. Add in some objectives that would cost the ticket loss to increase and the rounds won't have to take all that long.

BF42's Battle of Brittain was imho a very good idea.
The British had 1 factory, 3 airbases and 5(iirc) radar towers (all flags you could spawn at).
The factory and radar towers could be destroyed.
Germans had 2 airfields that could not be destroyed.
The layout was such that the Germans had to destroy the factory and radar towers which would result in the British quickly bleeding out of tickets.
Also the radar towers (who also had flak) were along the cost line and if they were destroyed, the Germans could easily swarm over the bases and the factory.

This resulted in both sides having multiple roles and objectives.
German fighters had to defend the bombers from British fighters.
German bombers had to destroy the towers and then the factory.
British fighters had to destroy the German bombers.
Infantry had to keep the radar towers intact and use their and other flak to destroy bombers.

Your team would lose if they did not play together.
No lone wolf German could win, no lone wolf Brit.

And by teamwork I mean actually helping each other. Not WoW style 'team play'.
Teamwork as in football (both American and the other) or rugby and not like hooligans.

Also since it is possible to add a penalty towards eliminating a civilian it might be possible to a) remove ticket loss per death or b) make the loss map dependent.
So then a mapper could design his map to reflect a certain situation.
If it is a clean-sweep objective map then a death could be worth 5. (you do not have backup and make do with what you have. losing to many people will result in one team losing)
or say a city map where there are basically always reinforcements and a death does not hurt, i.e. worth zero. In their place you would have objectives you must fulfil.

At the FH forums they were playing with the idea of only awarding points after the round. Ideas were such as if your team won, you were awarded 100 points. Loser might get 25. Plus any bonuses for goals met (if you were active in taking positions and like)
