Deployable emergency helipad?

Post by Expendable Grunt »

Was wondering if it would be an interesting idea for the com to be able to deploy an "emergency" rearming pad for choppers? I thought it would be interesting, especially on maps where it's hard to rearm, like Qwai. It could look like the wood portion lf the bunker, only wider, and ith a ramp.

There is a transportable helipad static already made (was in Battlefield 2), so it is definitely possible.

Well that'd be a FARP (Forward Arming and Refuelling Point). They're often comprised of either a large patch of land with a fuel truck and maybe a hangar or area to repair helicopters which aren't airworthy.
The larger version is an airstrip with a few hangars and a few mobile fuel trucks.

I think one of these would have to be VERY costly and would take a long time to build (on a flat area of land [not easy to find]).

Can the chopper resupply of Support trucks or Humvees?

So why do we need a FARP then, lol

Just have a deployable gas station, satisfies all your needs :p

There's no need for one IMO. Even Kashan isn't big enough for one to be needed. Maybe if bigger maps than Kashan were made.... Then they might be of use. As it stands right now, I could search the whole of Kashan for a FARP or even a lone bunker in about 3 minutes. That would be a serious waste of tickets if I just called in an airstrike on the target.

Yep. Or simply ask for a supply crate in a safe position.

What would be appreciated, is a deployable landing strip, something fairly flat to land on. Put it up behind one of the bunkers on Kashan, and all of a sudden it's way easier to ferry in troops, because atm, the only "good" place to land there is on the middle of the road, which makes you an easy target, especially if the squad you are about to pick up takes its time.

Yeah, that's the other point I saw with the helipad thing; I hinted at it when I said it would keep the base of the bunker, thus adapting to terrain and having a ladder.

That's why we have helicopters. Planes need runways (except a very few like the harrier).

Harriers still need a runway for take-off. Unless it's a serious emergency, in which case the pilot would bail.

not unless they are carrying zero munitions and half fuel...same with the f-35

thrust to weight ratio at fully loaded is like .9, then as you burn it off and drop some bombs it goes up to like 1.15

I full support deployable heli pads. This would be a great way to avoid base rape when repairing. How can they base rape if they don't know where your helicopter pad is? :D

Support trucks dosen't supply any kind of vehicle.
Only the little supply vehicles can supply them.

Supporttrucks arent Commandertrucks.
Dont know if we had this trucks still ingame but we had this kind of trucks in the openbeta. They work like the normal Supportcars but they are trucks.
