Its hard to make custom maps if you want them to be GOOD ;)

But true, it would be nice. I think it would help immensily for the popularity of this mod. How about asking TotalBF2 if their map packs could be standard for the mod!!! All the devs then have to do is add AAS support to them.

If it were up to me, conquest mode would be scrapped and AAS would be the standard. But what do I know :-P

The annoying thing is getting decent maps done, and actually getting the things to work! A valley or something is a good terrain for this mode. Put the flags in a nice line to make it simple to work out what to capture next.

Are maps paticularly difficult to actually make? I've got a low-end system, but that should be changed soon. Is the mapping tool anything like BattleCraft for BF1942 & BF:V?

I made a map for BFV a while back, thought the editor was pretty straight forward, how's the BF2 version?

well tbh, i don't think the editor is too difficult once you get used to it. ok, yes, i suck at it but that's more my problem than an editor problem.

Personally I find it more complicated with BF2 than with the BFV/BF1942 editor... But on the other hand its certainly more powerfull. Or at least it is since when I used the BFV/BF1942 editor, I might add that I had an early beta version which couldnt even save terrain correctly, lol.

The BF2 editor is a severe system hog though. With my 2400+/9800Pro I cant make much larger maps than the smallest version. Even that can slow to a crawl sometimes. Not to mention crashing every now and then, missing singleplayer support, a habit of wrecking your files or a customs map failure to work on certain graphical settings.

Cheers for that, looks like I won't be making any maps for a while then, I'll wait for the editor to be "fixed", if they bother, and it being a "severe system hog" as you said, I'll wait for some more RAM I think :)

Its difficult to CTD when its running on the desktop ;)

I've had it happen a couple of times though. Its not enough to ruin map making I suppose, but it can be annoying.

I'm a little amazed that this apparently flawed editor hasnt recieved a patch (or two) yet.

Exactly my opinion!!!! The "running after flags in circels"-concept feels booring...

It's also a way to stand out more to use AAS as standard. PLEASE DO THAT!!!
