I couldn't find it in the guide, so for new players an additional section in the guide dedicated to pointing out the differences between the various infantry uniforms, would be very desirable. My biggest problem is discerning friend from foe, at a glance they all appear the same to me.
The section needs to include images of the various infantry uniforms, with pointers to what makes them unique to their faction.
I can't stress how frustrated I am at shooting friendlies due to my failure to recognize them, or when I hold my fire the enemy shoots me, because they instantly know I am the enemy. I would certainly appreciate this addition to both the online guide and the "Project Reality Essentials" file.

Try putting all your video options at low/off (oh and with a screen resolution of 800) and you'll start to get an idea.Greenie Beanie wrote:I dont understand how people have this problem tbh
I often have an enemy in my sights but not being sure he wasn't a friendly (as the mini-map is usually too zoomed in or zoomed out to be useful at mid distance) he then takes me down. [In short I prefer getting killed rather then accidently TKing]
Can't wait for my computer to die down !!!

you know you are shooting at allied troops when you keep getting white messages under the chat messages.

[R-MOD]Mongolian Dude: AH man, sarcasm is so hard to get across the web, even if we are both british
[R-DEV]Jaymz: That has to be...the most epic response to a welcome thread I have ever seen. [R-CON]Mr.D ladies and gentlemen!

This problem is not a problem since .6. Just spot them...takes 1 second. Use that until you learn to recognise them at a distance or get a better computer. If you are new to the game, then its just that. Don't worry after playing for a while you will get the hang of it, just say "Sorry" for every TK and hang back with your squad. When you are moving out, look at your map to see if friendlys are in the near area...if they aren't then you know that if you see anything you can shoot it. GL

Although your suggestions are appreciated, what is wrong with my suggestion of putting images of infantry into the guide with descriptions of the differences? This would certainly reduce frustration levels for new players.
I suspect those saying wait for recognition, are those getting in that first shot quick kill, therefore they don't want the situation changed so they can maintain their advantage.
Greenie Beanie, it is a serious problem for new players.
Saobh, I don't want to reduce my settings, I like how it looks when everything is set to high. I would prefer to be able to visually recognize the enemy and I don't have the hours to spare to learn from experience. I don't want to have to wait, to see if I get shot at.
Could you imagine an army going to war and not telling your soldiers what the enemy soldier looks like?
[R-PUB]MrD, that is not an answer to friendly fire, as the shots have already been fired.
Aljen, by the time I have spotted them, it is too late, they have killed me. I find there is too much going on to study the minimap, but maybe with practice this strategy might help.
VipersGhost, I live in Australia, I have seen only one open server for PR, I can't afford to be kicked for team killing.
Waaah_Wah, by the time I have spotted them, it is too late, they have killed me.
[T]BludShoT, too true, spotting is not a practical answer in all conditions.
So I return to my initial suggestion, please add images of the infantry from all factions, and what makes them different from each other.
