I'm sorry if this has been suggested already but it has to be brought to attention.

In reality there is just NO WAY you can dive onto the ground and instantly get better accuracy, I've lost count of how many times I've lost gunfights because the other guy got desperate and flopped down onto the ground WHILE firing bullets at me.

This is reality mod and dropping to prone getting instant better accuracy is defiantly not realistic.

Please just implement what they have in BF2142 (Your accuracy is **** for around 1-2 seconds when you go prone). Other than that the mod is brill, keep up the good work.

This is really difficult for me as some of you may know, but... it's a known issue and there have been plenty of other threads about the same topic.

Some say it's hardcoded, some say it just needs an animation and some say it is possible because they saw it in a couple of films.

So.... have you seen that search button on the top right? (It does work :P )

Really? If so that would be great... guess we will wait and see then. Although im not completely convinced that EA will actually do this because they did say "We will not be doing any major changes to BF2" after 2142 came out... but then they contradicted their self by introducing highway tampa so who knows.

This problem can't be stressed enough IMO. Dolphin diving is the biggest flaw in PR.

Dolphin diving is not instant prone.

Dolphin diving is getting prone in the air and this already taken away through a patch.

A user summarized it on the BF2s forums and this what he said:

It sure would have been nice if EA fixed the insta-prone accuracy nonsense in BF2 like they did for Battlefield: 2142.
This is MADNESS!!!

Allow reduced spawn time servers now!
Remove "bonus" spawn time nonsense.

Is it possible for someone to confirm that its hard coded? If so that would be great.

I doubt EA fixing instant prone in the next or future patches because if you play a game of battlefield 2 most guys that are overusing this instant prone an either newbies that have figured

"My accuracy goes instantly better AND I'm harder to hit when i go prone! So i will do it whenever i see an enemy!"

Or they are experienced players that are high ranked and are used to BF2 and are maybe slightly shallow and do whatever they can to win and THEY figure

"The best option when seeing an enemy is to go instantly to prone... and i want to be the best and climb the leader board some more"

So EA/Dice wont want to anger these both vital consumers so they most likely wont fix it... it sucks i know but we should all be semi-used to getting disappointed by them so its not all bad.

I first read the topic as "pr()n" instead of "prone" which of course piqued my curiosity...

I do believe insta-proning is a DARK art El_Vikingo, if not a reflex action leftover from our primordial 'nilla instincts...

AFAIK, the dev's have done all that they can in regards to combating this problem. The rest is up to EA.

Damn, awesome a new patch...hope it doesn't break PR, hopefully it'll fix some things.
