Nading the hatch

ever since i started climbing ontop of tanks in vanilla to hide from them i've always wondered if it would be a good idea to be able to knock them out by a nade throught an open top hatch.

i dont know much about modern tank specs so i dont know if the hatchs have locks etc or are even left open so i dont know if it would b realistic but it could be a fun option/feature to have imo.

rite now wen the hatch is shown open there is a circular depression that is supposed to resemble the opening, this could deepened so that nades dont bounce out and look more like a opening rather than just a shallow hole. The insides of this cylindericle depression should then have hitboxes that take damage the same of a nade so that the tank gets knocked out. (or if possible just the crew killed ??). this could give infantry the ablity to creep up and climb onto an unsuspecting stantionary (camping tbh) tank and take it out (it might also stop some of the instant respawning with at kits).

i dont know if putting a nade thru the top hatch of the tank would kill the entire crew in real life so forgive me if this suggestion is entirly off the wall and stupid, its just something i'd like to see.

This has been discussed somewhere else, but in short a nade really wouldn't do much damage at all. Most it'd do is hurt/kill the crew, but they'd have the hatch locked anyway (well common sense dictates they would).

The nades we have in the game right now are far too weak to harm a tank. Maybe if they added the 5kg Russian anti-tank grenades, that'd be more interesting!

5 kilograms? Damn!

I don't believe you should be able to throw grenades into the turrets of tanks. The concept is extremely John Wayne-esque and in reality, you'd probably never even have the chance to climb onto an enemy tank

i highly doubt this is possible in the BF2 engine i however am not a coder

It's the best thing ever if you can lob a grenade into the back of a hmmvv.

I prefer to use grenades to root out/kill entrenched enemy infantry.

THERMITE GRENADES!!

I said this elsewhere. Thermite grenades need to be included as a less powerful alternative/suppliment to C4. Throw one of THOSE ontop of a tank and you'll do some damage...

What is a Thermite grenade?

Do you mean Incindiary grenade? An Incindiary grenade would do practically nothing to a tank. The only thing it would do is possibly set fire to anything thats flammable or outside the tank, such as, the packs and things in the racks.

Dropping Grenades into the hatch of an MBT may seem to be a realistic capability but, IRL, you would not get anywhere near close enough to do something like that. If you're getting that close in the game, the other team obviously doesnt know how to use thier tank.

I dont think this should be possible as it would add a level of arcadish gameplay to the Mod that would go against everything the Mod is about.

thermite grenades i beleive are something akin to WP grenades they would do damage to any of the stuff on top of the tank but i dont think theyd penetrate armor

lol they would be better off giving us big corks to shove into the main barrels to backfire the shot and banana peel the barrel. :grin: Hey thats an idea (lol, would be interesting though woudlnt it?)
