Make Barb Wire removable by wrenches?
That would be nice, obviously wrenches cant remove barb wire in real life but those metal clippers would be able to, just dont see need for more objects.
It would really be nice, especially on kashan.

I think it is a good idea.
But it should take a long time to remove enemy razor wire.
Wrench fully represents all engineer abilities so I do not think it is necessary to create a new tool.
BTW would it be possible to somehow allow removing of friendly assets by commander/engineer? Sometimes happen that they are not at a good position and it would be useful to have a possibility to remove them.
Explosives are not usable when you are building some sophisticated wire labyrinth as I have seen to do by some commanders.

Yes, good idea for sure. They don't need wire cutters (as that would need another model, animation, sound, and slot in the inventory), but to just add the ability for wrenches to cut through wire.
If its possible, how about if the wire is over a certain length, the wrench would just cut a small 3 or 4 foot space in the wire (maybe just dividing the wire into two different lengths).
Or maybe not (like the devs dont already have stuff to do
).
But if its going to remove the whole section of wire then it should take a at least 5-10 seconds to get rid of. Would really be annoying if an engineer was able to dissemble your whole wire defense in the blink of an eye.
I too would like to second the ability for commanders to delete their own defenses.

Why remove her? OK so she doesn't know the meaning of the word "stealth" but she would make a welcome diversion from the horrors of war.

Oh, I see.
Actually giving the capability to remove barbed wire could make an important tactical difference, especially if it was done by leaving it in position with a new model that has a gap in it.
It would add an element of stealth, while still showing defenders where the breach occurred.
Good suggestion.

I agree with getting rid of it. Though I think it'd be nice to have different animations in the long term. I'd much prefer it if I got a pair of bolt cutters out to do the job, it'd be alot more satisfying.
I know it's work for the devs but I think stuff like this would make the mod alto more detailed. Although it's more then fair enough if it's too much work.

See my signature.ZaZZo wrote:Sounds like a good idea. Maybe knife the wire intead, then you could repair the wire with your wrench?
Also, C4/SLAM on wire with razors=bad idea.

You totally missed where I suggested using shovels as the alternative.lonelyjew wrote:Great idea. Clypp, I'd like to see an engi repair a tank with a wrench or set up a bunker with a shovel. The idea is the wrench represents many tools, in this case wire cutters.
And you can build a bunker with a shovel and a few supplies (Empty sandbags, roof supports)

Maybe not a wrench, but some wire cutters?

This would only be used by engineers right? Cause I don't see every soldier having a pair of nail clippers with them. IMO all this wire clipping is giving me flashbacks of WWII... bangalores?

It would be nice if the barb wire ontop of a wall was destructable -- I ordered a squad mate to go try it when we hwere attacking an MEC base last night and it failed, giving away our position.
