laser guided missiles.
I went back through the topics in here and only found one about this and it was two years old. plus i didnt see it in the already suggested topic but it could just be that its three AM here and im going blind.
Laser guided missiles on the attack choppers. to the best of my knowledge and research both the AH64 and cobra gunships use laser guided missiles at least more commonly now than any other. to me this seems like a small fix but i know what seems small to the play may be massive for the devs
My suggestion to implement these is just switching the TV sight they already have to the old laser sight the two seater laser sight and missiles from Vbf2 sans the "locked on" feature they had. as from what ive seen its fairly similar to what they have. It seems to me there was a mod that came out that had this in it the name of it escapes me but if i remember it ill post it.
and one more thing it seems to me that the digi zoom on the choppers is shorter than what they have I saw some gun cam footage from an apache not to long ago where they demonstrated the zoom very well and i will post a link to it here along with some gun cam footage of hell fires being used for those who havnt seen it before(those few im sure)

Those videos prove pretty well that they do indeed use laser guided missiles theres a reason the nose gear on those things has a laser des on it.
If this can be done it should be done project reality should be as real as possible right? not only that but i think the laser guided missiles would ad a new challenge to the game as moving targets would become Far harder to hit with this system.
And another thing the hell fire has a huge range and if those t.vs in the game now are supposed to be anything like them your gona need to boost the range from the sad 1500 meters its at now im fairly certain those missiles have a range of at least a few miles.
Ok Ok im done now flame away you military buffs.

To my mind, leave it in along with the lock - and increase the time it takes to aquire lock (if possible) or increase reload time. Give the chopper's gunner a few (~4) automatic lock-ons, the gun, and a few (~4) of the TV missiles. Be a more interesting payload, and would encourage use of the two different missiles in different ways.
TV/IR for quick snap-shots (popping up from behind a hill to kill an AAV), and the LGM for hitting a target from a long way aways when you're not under immediate threat.
To balance it a bit (and stop them from being ultra-powerful), lock the LGM view to dead-ahead, like the TV/IRMs instead of the free-ranging seeker head on the BF2 bombers.
You'd effectively be limiting the number of quick kills a chopper could make, as the number of TV/IRMs would be halved, forcing them to use stand-off attacks to gain best useage of all their heavy ordinance.

The DEVs could do something else. Its not necessary that the cobra transports the hellfires. The cobras just have to lock the target and maybe a blackhawk carries the hellfires. That would have a positive effect in two ways. First the blackhawk would become more useful than now and you have to work as a team to shoot something with the chopper.
