iron sights too close to the face ?

Post by gazzthompson »

mainly the AK i have noticed , but there are probably others, the AK sight is half way down the barrel , yet when u bring it up its right in ur face .... any 1 notice this ?

just thought i would say , but expect it to be alot of effort through new animation and what not so don't expect to see it in .7 :P

any 1 agree ? or do i have to get screen shots

well as u can see from this screenshot the iron sight is right in the players eye:

and as u can see from this next screen shot the distance from the iron sight to the but is half the length of the rifle

Image

and as u can see IRL the sight is not up against ur eye :

Well that screen is from vanilla so it's not valid, :p

The rear sight does seem a little over done for the AK, looks to wide as well.

Yeah, the last picture of the guy aiming down the sight of that gun, I'm sure he can see his own fingers and thumb that are between his face and sight.

Well, try shove that all in 90ºs field of view.

It's come up before, and I think they said it would require remodelling (?).

na , the sight is the lump before his hand , and his hand is to the side of the rifle not on top, but there r 2 sights , for and rear , but for the AK the rear is more like middle.

Any of you guys heard of perspective? :P

That bottom third of the screenie contains a large black mass in it... okay it could do with being a *little* larger but it's more or less right- you hold something long and slender up to your eye like that, you won't get the full impression of distance - it's a condensed view IRL, remember?

"Did they say what he's angry about?" asked Annette Mitchell, 77, of the district, stranded after seeing a double feature of "Piranha 3D" and "The Last Exorcism." - Washington Post

Been pointed out numerous times before.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Hmm I just took a picture with my webcam, then compared it to how the perspective looked from my eyes, I'd say Insurgency got it pretty much right.

Here's the pic BTW:

Not really if you take into account how your eyes handles the perspective.

Since most of our rifles are already modeled, this wouldn't take any remodeling. All of our models sights work just like insurgency's. As a personal opinion I'd rather 3D, but when we took a poll about this subject several months ago, the majority of devs voted against moving to 3D.
