I dont know but in my opinion the same happened to this class like in the early of 0.5.
The accuracy was very low and you was not able to hit somethin.
Now you fixed this but you raised the accuracy from riflemans.
So what happend on the battlefield ?
The support gun is no match for the enemy because they will deliver two or three accurate round and you are done.
My suggestion is :
Do it like the Army did - get some scope on the support weapons to make it as match for other weapons.
90% of the Players are Riflemans on the battlefield.
On the Us side.. less than on MEC side because the Scope/Iron sight is shitty in the moment.
With a Scope the support gun will be more deadly and able to supress enemys.
In the moment they send you one accurate round before you even noticed them.

Agree with you completely, suppression fire from SAWs is almost useless at the moment. The reason isn't so much because they're inaccurate, it's because rifleman can pop-up from behind cover and instantly have deadly accuracy. The plan is to improve this by injecting more realism into weapons handling/recoil/deviation.

Yay! I love the support class. I just like giving suppressive fire and making noise. Well actually I just like making noise. I guess that is why I never join the squad that is taking the stealth approach. *Walking slowly and carefully* "POW POW POW POW" *Squad looks at me* " I thought the sign was a threat and I took the shot"

well the other problem with it atm is that the majority of maps are only presenting close range combat 0-300 meters or so, go on kashan and find some infantry from 500+ meters those riflemen wont be doing pop up shots they will be running for cover the saw is a weapon along with the m240 made for longer range fighting and it proves its self very well at those ranges.
I believe the saw is expected to be good to 800 meters and the heavy m240 out to 1200 or there abouts. in any case in 0.7 the support gunner will present himself as a true asset with out the fog.
