Canceled, do not post -- The Peoples Militia (or something to that effect)

Post by Expendable Grunt »

So I was thinking the otherday about the PLA army ingame and a few things I had heard about the real PLA. From what I figure, we're actually fighting some sort of more elite PLA force, as they're using an assault rifle that isn't standard, and they're using body armour, and apparently the main PLA units don't have body armour.

So I got to thinking about making a subfaction for the PLA that was their regular army, with conventional trappings/organization and no body armour, and a ticket advantage (larger numbers in deployment). Then I got thinking -- since the US has managed to invade China's mainland, what would the USMC come across when not fighting the PLA? I figured maybe a militia-style force, fighting to "defend the homeland". It was mostly inspired by the Japanese home guard of WW2. Wether or not China actually has a group like this I don't know. One of our Chinese members may be able to fill me in on this, though this is the near future, and the US is invading...so maybe something like this would take place?

Also, we have Two Arab factions, Three Western Factions, and only one Asian.

If not, it's fun brainstorming none the less!

Concept: Conscripted Defence soldiers that hold positions while the main army is out fighting. Used to suppliment/supplant PLA main forces. Officers are detachments from PLA, who oversee dicipline.

Fighting Style: Ambush. Only one regular kit gets an assault rifle. Soldiers have no body armour, and relitively limited amunition. They have no air cover native to their forces. They rely on ambush and gurella warfare to accomplish their goals.

So here are my kit ideas...

BASIC KITS
Scout
*Knife
*Type 56 Carbine (SKS) [1+3]
*Smoke [2]
*Binocs
*Bandage

Conscript
*Knife
*Type 56 Assault Rifle (AK-47) [1+3]
*Fragmentation Grenades [4]
*Smoke Grenades [1]
*Shovel
*Bandage

Conscript Laborer //Seems heavy to me.
*Knife
*Type 56 Assault Rifle [1+2]
*Explosives (not as powerful as C4, more powerful than SLAM)
*Landmines (AP and AT...hmm)
*Shovel
*Wrench
*Bandages

Conscript Medic
*Knife
*Type 56 Assault Rifle [1+2]
*Medic Bag (Maybe just a **** load of bandages?)
*Smoke [2]

REQUESTABLE UNLIMITED
Crewman
*Knife
*QSZ-92 Pistol [1+2]

REQUESTABLE RESTRICTED
Officer
*Knife
*QSZ-92 Pistol [1+2]
*QBZ-95 with Scope [1+8]
*Fragmentation Grenades [4]
*Smoke [2]
*Flash Bangs
*Signal Grenades
*Binoculars
*Body Armor
*Bandages

REQUESTABLE LIMITED
Anti-Air Conscript
*Knife
*Type 56 Carbine [1+3]
*HN-5 MANPAD [1+1]
*Bandage

Support
*Knife
*RPD SAW [1+2 75 round Drums]
*Bandage

Grenadier (Modified as par Bobs idea + my original concept)
*Knife
*Type 56 Carbine
*Fragmentation Grenades [8]
*Smoke [2]
*Bandage

Rifleman Anti-Tank
*Knife
*Type 56 Carbine [1+3]
*PF-89
*Binoculars
*Bandage

Sniper
*Knife
*QSZ-92 Pistol [1+2]
*Mosin-Nagant Bolt Action with Scope [1+3]
*Binoculars

Marksman
*Knife
*Scoped Type 56 Carbine [1+3]
*Binoculars

PICK UP:
Type 56 GPMG [1+2]

Notes: These guys should have a commander, a higher ranking PLA officer in charge of overseeing things. Thusly they will be able to build some assets, though maybe not some of them.

Other Ideas:
I would like to see about maybe making an Anti Personel landmine. It would be given to the labourer, I'd say. I know it's against some convention, but these buggers arn't listening...

VEHICLES

Light Jeep:
Paratrooper FAV

Medium Jeep:
Nanjing 2046

Heavy Vehicle:
BRDM-2 (China doesn't officially use it, though lots of countries have, and I figure some would show up in China. It also looks cool, and you know it. It would have a seat of 4 however. Requires crewman.)

APC: The 2.5 Ton truck model would do great as a mass-troop transits. Seems fairly cheap in comparison to a full blown APC, and these guys don't have transport choppers.

Maps: One Urban map and one Jungle/forrest map would be good I think, for starters. Sunset City could have these guys instead of the PLA.

EDIT: Upside to doing this is that a vast majority of the stuff they're using is already in the game. As such, if I took on the project (and had permission to use the stuff) a good amount of the work would already be done.

EDIT 2: I also figure the maps would be objective based, maybe, though AAS might work. I figure The Peoples Militia would have twice or so the tickets of US/GB/CA.

EDIT 3: I've fixed a few things and have changed the weapons around quite a bit. Thanks to Bob for the help.

EDIT 4: Anti Personel Mines :)

I don't see the point, they are not that massively different to the factions already in game.

I think a forest map would be best. As they have no H-AT or heavy armour.

It sounds pretty fun though with a VC style force.

If anything i would like to see more Militia alà the Mestians. I really love them.
This sounds just like the PLA only with lower budget. Good thing is you allready have all the models. Sounds fully do-able.

I want a Colombian Drugcartell-militia and an Afghani Warlord-militia.

Chinese Militia made from civilian population, when they have the biggest army in the world?
I think, a regular army with some disadvantages, like no body armor and modern assault rifles sounds better.

Also, i suggested a Conscript force before and it got locked by Eggman, stating, that in 2010, PLA has been fully equiped with QBZ95s and body armor...

No, this isn't about a main PLA force or anything. They're fighting 3, maybe 4 different forces, USA, USMC, GBA, and maybe CA. They're using these guys to hold places behind them -- China is a big place. China today has Militia forces IIRC...

I like it..... will give more diversity and might be better suited for some maps... such as sunset city....

They were Swedes; in terms of individual intelligence, integrity and single-mindedness I was to find them among the most impressive soldiers I had ever encountered. In Vares their moment had come."

US invading China is ridicolous itself imo, PR shouldnt push this concept so far, for realisms sake.

Yeah, I've always thought that the PLA faction was a little too "futuristic" for my liking. A more standard "militia", which, btw, could also be used as a stand-in for the North Korean and even Vietnamese army, would be far more enjoyable to play against and as, rather than these elite "Chinese commandos". Even simply removing the various packs and such from the Chinese soldier model would help a lot, so they don't look like Delta Force or whatever:

I think PR needs the "Wolverine" faction from "Red Dawn", now that would be a kick *** faction

I think PR is having way too much factions. Though, that sounds good, it just adds more to the download size...

USMC
US Army
MEC
PLA
"Peoples Militia"
Insurgents
Militia
Canadians
Polish
Russian
Taiwanese(?)

That's 11 factions +/- right there. FH for BF1942 had 10 factions...

Thanks. Need more input on individual kits though.

Minor issue I see: Spawn without body armour and your PLA officer doesn't get any when you request the kit.
