The humvee

Post by Heydude235 »

Ok the hmmvee in bf2 is good. But it only holds 4 people. It should hold 7 if you look inside it has 3 chairs that you cant use. But all i wat if it to hold 3 more people in it. The 3 people inside could fire out there windows. I want this so a squad or more could use the hmmvee fully.

We definetly need more hummer variant. I absolutely *HATE* BF2 for not including different versions of the vehicles. Its so easy to change the configuration due to the addon nature of BF code.

Based on the M998 chassis, using common components and kits, the HMMWV can be configured to become a troop carrier, armament carrier, S250 shelter carrier, ambulance, TOW missile carrier, and a Scout vehicle.

We should have most of those variants (the shelter carrier being the only useless one).

Well SF released a Humvee with TOW ontop. Anyway I agree. There are many varients of Hummer to use. Open, closed, some with .50 cal, some with TOW, some with grenade launcher, some capable of deep fording, some capable of.. etc etc etc. One thing I would like to see is ammo-carrier jeeps and vehicles, as one can not always rely on commander supply drops, especially on large pub games. Something like a Humvee w/ ammo (big boom!) and stuff. Also, smoke laying humvee would be COOL!

EDIT: Oh, and LOSAT! Omfg you need the LOSAT Humvee, NOW! And of course Avenger.

for BFV and BF42 there was a limit of up to 6 players in a vehicle, the only way iv heard of getting around that is to put two "vehicles" in the same models ala FH but i dont know if its worth it just for the hummer

Hmm, seems that same limitation is in BF2 aswell. I wondered why the transport choppers and boats don't carry more than 6. Now I know!

How about being able to sit in the coilot position in the transport choppers? That way, if the main pilot gets killed, you can take over!

But even then 6 seats its an improvement for a dedicated hummer transport.

I wouldn't bother with putting anymore than six player positions on any Humvee variants. Squads can only hold six people

That's not to say that someone might be asked to drive the whole squad to a certain location, though... If there's truly no way of getting more than 6 players, fair enough. We should definately include the Humvee variants though. Did anyone play PoE for BF:V?

Never seen the "clamshell" of the HMMWV armament carriers removed to allow additional passengers, so we may have to remodel it for the sake of authenticity down the line. The M998 variants can be configured to a "flatbed" with troop seats along the sides to hold more passengers (a center seating configuration, so that each column of troops can face outwards, has been requested). As for resupplying small arms, I think most infantry carrier vehicles should do that anyway.

We do wish to include more weapons configurations, like the Mk-19 or the special operations variant. 4 or 5 is the maximum seating we would probably include (1 driver, front passenger/gunner, 1-2 rear passengers and gunner) for the HMMWV, since trying to cram three guys in the back wearing full tactical gear is probably really difficult.

We are definitely trying to figure that out.

The way I figure it, this is a realism mod, not a "realistic as possible and damn the gameplay" mod. A squad should be able to fit in 1 vehicle. And the squad size in BF2 is 6 people. Therefore, it should be 6 people that should fit in the transport. Increase the squad size, then I'd say increase the seats. IRL, are you going to just go somewhere else without your squad? Not likley.

I can see the convorsation now......
"Who the hell are you?"
"I'm PFC Dinkledork, from Charlie squad."
"So then what in the name of BRAVO SQUAD are you doing in this hummer!?!?!"
"Umm saw an empty seat." Dinkledork hears his squad leader calling for ammo, he and his ammo pack are nowhere around to support him. "OK, gotta go."
PFC Dinkledork proceeds to run across the battlefield bunnyhopping his @$$ off and then dies. Without reaching his squad leader.

Yes one of the chairs you cant even use has a box on it so that could stay there. I would like 6 better then 4.

IMHO I think that not only should the HMMWV's have more seating, but like stated in other posts any vehicle should be able to hold enough people for a squad. The boats are the only ones that can be used by an entire squad for movement, and since it is restricted to water, it severly limits the abilities of it to be affective in most maps, some dont even have them. You have a good point. The HMMWVs should definately have more variaty and seating to them.
