[Q]Prone Delay.

[Q]Prone Delay.

I read that it has already been suggested that a delay be put on prone firing. It seemed that preventing dolphin diving is Hardcoded, but maybe a delay was not? I was wondering if they were doing anything about this, or had already. I think it is really unrealistic (Especially for certain classes) To be constantly diving around in 40-60kilos+ of combat gear and firing with perfect effectiveness immediately afterwards. (Obviously. :P ) This is the one thing that has ruined the realism of BF2 ground combat for me. Well, that and the ridiculously small damage range of fragmentation rounds. (Heli missles, and 203's Edit: Hell. All weapons that fragment should have a much wider kill/dmg radius) Oh. Can't forget having a guy take 2-3 rounds from an AK straight to the gut, and only to turn around and headshot you completely unphased.

Anyway. Any word on that prone thing?

Maybe the devs could edit it so that if you go prone, you go straight through the floor and die, i wouldnt mind seeing that every 5 seconds, coupled with the text box being flooded with "OMG, WTF!"

lmao blackwater. I WISH, but I do love laying on a rooftop getting dozens of kills unseen with the sniper. ;)

I just think the dolphin diving thing is a joke. It's the only tactic used in ground fights in BF2 now, Unless they're a newbie and haven't figured how yet.

You get in a server full of guys who do that, and you might as well go play Counterstrike for the realism.

All I can say is that I'm experimenting with something right now which has a nice side-effect of making dolphin diving useless. :D

Look for it in v0.7.... ;)

<333 ALSO MAKE SURE THEY FIX THAT BUG THAT HAS PREVENTED ME FROM PLAYING PR AT ALL YET!

CONSTANT CRASH TO DESKTOPS ON LOADING. ;( No viable sollutions yet either.

You mean prone diving right? I thought dolphin diving was when you kept going prone-standing-prone-standing. Could be wrong though.

In any case thats the best news i've heard all day.

dolphin diving is flying though the air when prone.

this guys sig is a really good example :p

notice how the guy is in mid air, flying on his belly and if you replaced the ground with water, and added a phin on his back he would be a dolphin :p

thou the thing that happens in PR is called prone diving as the player just dives strait from running to prone and dives strait to the ground and shoots you in the end with pin point accuracy :p

the thing you are on about is called prone spamming :p

However, all of those problems will be decreased/fixed if what we are experimenting with works well. :)

Heh, right as I read this, I'm pronedived in-game and proceed to lose it and cuss abusively toward the culprit.

so do we! It could fix a entire range of problems you have no idea. But we have still yet to test it on a dedicated server and for thous of you that dont know, lots of stuff works on a local server that dose not work on a dedicated server, a good example, bomb designation works on local but not dedicated :p

so it might not work at all and needs alot more work and testing, all I've know about it is what KoC is posting :p

I SINCERELY hope this fix would be released in a patch...even if its a full blown client patch.

ye it will take some time to do this across all of our weapons we need it on, so not for the patch. and thats if it works on a dedi :p

We cannot mod the users. I'd hazard a guess that it isn't PR causing this 'bug'.
