[Question] Changing kill messages to include range?

I'm making a small sniper mod for BF2, and I wanted to included kill range in the kill messages. So far I've not found out where/how you can access this, so I'm sending a game.sayAll (stating that player X killed an enemy at Y meters) with python when someone is shot with a sniper rifle. But this method fails if the kills are frequent.
PR has removed the kill messages altogether, so there must be something besides the localisation files that dictate on-screen text. Or did they simply remove the HUD element that displays kill messages? In that case I'm stuck with the python method. =(

I guess PR is very secretive about it's ways? Shame really...
Edit - And yes I've posted there. I'm just looking for mod developers that know anything about it.

Not really no. You will get more help on that froums than here in relation to your problem because more devs check thous forums (incuding us) and help out ppl there. So you will have more devs helping you out which in turn means a bigger knowledge base + a faster response and thous are the modding froums so your problem when solved will be stored for other ppl to see if they use the search function. In fact have you tried using the search function over there?

Yep, I've searched and posted there too. It seems to be an elusive topic though, so I'm trying to reach as many people as I can (by also posting here).
