What's next?
I was checking out the latest info for call of duty 4, i'm expecting it to be a very arcade-like game, but it seems very innovative.
My point is that eventually the technology of bf2 will be overtaken by newer titles that provide better visuals, physics etc- yet probably miss the PR magic.
So has any1 expressed interest at recreating the PR mod for newer titles, or is the team happy with the bf2 engine for the time being?

The idea of PR 2 has come up quite a bit lately (read, search around a bit for this topic
). As for switching to a new title all the devs have said are that they will determine what if any title will be, in the future when PR is closer to being wrapped up.
There has been a tonn of speculation by the forum members on what would make the best title.

You know what?...Lets not temp or divert the Devs on this. Here's my point:
- The BF2 engine will work indefinitely no mater what new games or machines come out in the future, meaning a lot of players will keep their present machines or hand them down to a family member or friend, insuring PR1.0's viability for some time to come, much like CS has.

What I think will happen more than likely is another crew of developers will plagiarize all the goodness out of PRM in a mod designed around another newer game engine.
Good possibility of of some of the current PRM developers taking their experience with them and "defecting" , or the entire PRM crew amalgamating with another team to work on a newer version on a newer engine.
Whatever happens , it's a long ways down the road and even the load of new games coming out on the newer engines tend to be nothing more than prettier than BF2. They don't really add any new game play features. Game developers idea's of "realism" tend to be focused on graphics rather than game play.
BF2 suffers from a few missing things such as squad size limitations and the inability to lean around a corner but these can be circumvented with a little imagination.
Think the current PRM will be with us for a long time yet.

I believe that game which would have netcode supporting much more players then 64 and which would try to fully support Mod comunity (like Morrowind, Oblivion) has much higher chances to be PR-modded then any game with only nice graphic and physics.
Truth needs no law to enforce it

If PR moved to ArmA id shoot myself, really, ArmA is half finished and i was stupid enough to buy it, anyway.
The main problem the devs are going to face is the same as the Project Reality team from Joint Operations faced, you may have the best mod in the world but when new games come out, players leave, when players leave, the community decreases, when the community decreases, people start looking elsewhere, its a vicious cycle that i can only hope wont happen to PR, but with over 1000 servers still on VBF2, i dont think the devs have anything to worry about for.....3 years?

AA2 would seem to be the best choice, while were on the topic. If its mod friendly you could go and strip out all of the stuff you hate and make it right. I bet the AA group is pretty damn cool too, they've been jaded by the "big guys" too. If you asked for some basic fixes for a mod, I bet they'd help you out.

I agree with your points:BlackwaterEddie wrote:If PR moved to ArmA id shoot myself, really, ArmA is half finished and i was stupid enough to buy it, anyway.

- ArmA was a badly botched rehash of OperationFlashpoint (which was a mess to begin with (I bought 2 copies of it so I tried to like it....lol)
- Yep people will wander off enticed by newer games, but there will still be a strong community bond surrounding PR for some time to come.
- 3 years plus brother. Games/mods run in cycles as people move up to better machines, just look at CS, it's still a viable mod and still played on hundreds of servers maybe thousands (last time I played CS was when BF42/DC was in full swing and there were 50,000 CS servers up and that was like 5 years since initial release.
Oh yea P3teR.K;
So very true man. It never felt right in the first place after playing Quake based engines like Q3, CS, Mohaa and BF1942thing I hated with ArmA and Operation Flashpoint was, well the way the soldier holds the gun, shoots, it all just doesn't feel right.
