Why not adapting Fushe Pass to PR?
It's such a sweet map, nice terrain and quite big since it's a Vanilla map.
Doesn't have to be 1:1 - maybe a little bigger and altered vegetation/vehicles. Has quite a few flags...

Not sure on this. Fushe pass was one of the better vBF2 maps, but not sure how it would fit into PR due to the new view distances etc, although it was a largeish map.
I guess you could remove the jets and it would be OK.
But as Tumppu4321 said, even the best vBF2 map won't be as good as the PR made ones.
it would be a good map if the gamemod was changed to Scenario.. where US Troops has to protect the Dam from Insurgent attacks
Objectives
2 Bridges are to be Destroyed " unrepairable "
2 Doors, holding the water out from one Side, as the Workers are still in construction of it. "unrepairable "
but the map needs some Heavy adjustments for this to be possible thought
That scenario sounds pretty sweet and would fit in nicely in an Afghanistan situation. I think they (Nato, Brits) are holding a dam there that could supply the region with electricity and the Taliban was mounting an offensive there, was a while ago tho. In Helmand province my favourite v.5 map, a lot of soldiers say its much greener in Afghanistan then they expected so it could be nice and easy on the eyes too.
but isnt that map too small for planes??
cause i was playing in zatar wetlands and it takes liek 5 seconds to fly from one end to the other end of the map.
unless we put like a portal from fushe pass to kashan desert
What is the difference in workload between making a new map and converting a vanilla map to PR specs ?
I have got the impression that converting is almost as much trouble as making a new map but I don't know for sure.
And as the windshield melts
My tears evaporate
Leaving only charcoal to defend.
Finally I understand the feelings of the few.
I can do it, the major problem would be on making a good layout
It is unrealistic to have 2 airfields so close to each other, so, to make the map more realistic, one of the teams would have to own both airfield's and the other team should be attacking it
To make it fair, the attacking team should have apc's and 1 or 2 tanks, the defending team, should have attack hellos and Apc's
No airplanes, since the map is to small for the new planes
The major problem, is where the attacking team should start, i would make them come from the montains, and attacking the Middle bases first and them going for the airfields
If you could draw a good and realistic layout for that map, i can make it in one hour
Good idea! But... If this is to make it into PR i can only see it working as a reverse insurgency mode involving grunts side for a PLA secondline force, (Aka PLA militia) and like hfett said removing or altering the airfields.
It is an excellent map but it is hardly realistic. Needless to say, I think it still can be modified into something useful, perhaps even with the Brits instead of the USMC.
Most VBF2 maps to me don't hold a candle to the PR ones.
I played Gulf Of Oman two days ago and the flags are too close to each other. Half of that map isn't used at all in the fighting. I would probably enjoy it more if I could fight in the hills in the south and around that small lake which only pilots ever get to really see. Gulf Of Oman is far too large atm for the area that needs to be taken. I cannot even remember playing many of the VBF2 maps now.
If this map were to be made for PR, I suggest just using the 32 player size map for 64 players and don't even bother with the 64 player size map with the airfields...
The thing is with maps like Oman is you could easily take out a couple more flags and say have maybe 4 discluding the Essex and the airfield. If you had less flags then that would encourage more of the map to be used for flanking and such. Oman has plenty of room for manoeuvre and back in my vBF2 days I always found it very rewarding and very effective to find unusual ways between flags anyway.
How much are you allowed to mod the vanilla maps anyway? Would it be possible to remove one of the airfields? Or is it similar to EA's models where you can only add stuff and not remove. If not is there a way of modifying the dead zone so it only includes one of the airfields?
