up armoured humvee
Hi guys , new to all of this but plan on dloading it when i get back from work and get into it. I was reading the guide before and it said there was a up armoured humvee which i think is a great idea and more realistic as the current ones in normal bf2v are to weak. Are these new humvees on nearly every map? how do you guys find them? do IED's criple them?
regards

Welcome aboard, Beeto. This has been discussed several times, including very recently. It's okay, though; next time just use the search function before posting a question or suggestion, you might find the answer already posted.Beeto wrote:So there is 2 types of hummers? the normal one from vbf2 and the up armoured one?

Yes, there are two types of HMMWVs in-game. As for up-armored- well, sort of. The M1121 is the designation for any HMMWV TOW carrier equipped with the TOW Improved Target Acquisition System, up-armored or not. The M1114 is the designation for the basic up-armored HMMWV weapons carrier; the only thing that makes it resemble "up-armored" in the stock BF2 model is that it has an older type gunner's shield, but it has the rear "clamshell" removed, exposing everybody. The in-game difference is that the M1121 TOW Carrier model has the clamshell still attached; not really up-armored, but the occupants have a bit more protection.
A true "up-armored HMMWV" model is low priority, since there are other things on our plate. This doesn't mean we don't want to do it, we just don't have the resources to get new vehicles and weapons models (that aren't already in the game somewhere) as well as that model accomplished.

Thanks for your reply dude about the comparison of both models. Is it possible to put the M1121 hummer which has the clampshell attached to the rear on more maps? i found in vbf2 the hummers get destroyed so easily.....even by a grenade. I know they are not supposed to have the armor of a tank or APC but i feel that it should be able to withstand abit more punishment.
Would be good to have a choice of both of the hummer models in urban maps not just dessert maps as with the rear of the vehicle not open to gunfire etc it would help abit and would be more realistic.
Thanks again for your reply

Well, its on those maps because it is the counter to the opposing force armor. If it had different weapons, it would be. I'm not a coder, but if I remember right, you cannot change the TOW launcher on the HMMWV to another weapon just with code, a new model would have to be made.
As for more durable, maybe. The baseline M1114 had some pretty high marks, and now that the improved M1151 UA HMMWVs are getting fielded, they're even more survivable. Will check into it.

Ok hers the deal. I've always wanted to model an Up-Armored HMMWV, but when I had the chance a few months ago I modeled the MRAP Cougar instead. If PR is interested I'll go ahead and I’ll model a new Up-Armored M1114 HMMWV as soon as I get some free time, but I need assurance that if the model is worthy it’ll be used in game, cause I’m a busy person and it’s not an easy task to model.[R-DEV]Eddie Baker wrote:Welcome aboard, Beeto. Just to confuse you a bit more, there is another type of humvee that has AA rockets on it. But I dont think any maps have this vehicle at the moment unfortunately. I believe that vehicle was also a closed model with maybe reduced seating.
Humvee will survive a grenade I think but probably not more then 3 direct blasts. The closed or open humvee would be equal in this respect I believe.
Direct hit by IED, C4, mine, RPG, AT4, Heavy rocket, hellfire, TOW would all be a 1 hit kill
I think it does survive 1 hydra rocket but not 2. Same for SA7
The glass isnt bullet proof to any caliber. 40 seconds of small arms will destroy it, 3 seconds apc fire, 10 seconds heli minigun, 3 seconds cobra chaingun, 10 seconds 50 cal, atillery gun 2 seconds.
Also driving into a tank will blow it up!
For comparison a USA tank takes 4 AT4 rocket direct hits to die from a rear attack. 7 to perish from frontal AT4 attack aprox.
it'd also take roughly 24 hydras
