i've searched, closest thing i found was the merlin door and all of the "hay can i put a J33p in my heli?".
as far as i know this is not hardcoded and would be fairly simple to implement (as opposed to adding vehicle on vehicle collision meshes)
the merlin is my favorite aspect of the british forces. it's big, fearsome and gets the job done. I love the flight physics, it's fun and easy to fly. I fly it whenever it's available. merlin squads dominate when it combines a good pilot (one that can last at least 30 min) a spotter and skilled fire teams. caches can be spotted quickly and fireteams can be deployed in a matter of seconds.
The Suggestion
the EH-101 is unique in being the only helo in PR with working landing gear. I'm no expert but i believe the landing gear extends when you slow down and begin to descend (correct me if i'm wrong mods).
I suggest that the speed/altitude limit of the landing gear be changed so that it will extend long before it touches down.
alternatives
if the point at which the gear extends cannot be changed or is somehow hardcoded i suggest the following.
1. gear extends at a faster rate, if not instantly
2. (worse case scenario) make landing gear fixed.
don't get me wrong i think the working landing gear on the merlin is great, it looks sleek and aerodynamic when it is raised (as long as the ramp is up
it's just far too often the merlin is too big to fit into a street, and in order to land you must descend quickly or face slamming into a building. and when the landing gear fails, you will sustain damage. it's not always bad. it's just too many times you have to make a hard landing at the airport when your tail rotor is smoking because you were just hit by an RPG. you can't afford the small landing damage you sustain when you slam onto the tarmac.
if you haven't experienced this before it looks something like this...

then the gear raises on the ground

thanks.
