Post by Juba »

How about squad leaders being able to pick kits for squad mates?

If this has been suggested.. sry but nothing came up in search.

use voip and tell them what kit to use.
Often there is a very simple solution that doesn't involve spending hours coding the whole thing.

But everyone is complaining about snipers, so if SL is the only person who can request kits..

I don't reckon that'll work mate.
It can easily be abused, And if it really is that bad , use VoIP.

good point.
Anyway, people will always find a way to get that precious sniper for themselves. This suggestion would definitely help, but at the same time it would give SL's even more things to think about. Would also make kit requests take a longer time since the SL needs to approve it before you get the kit.

Maybe if it could be made into an option for SL to turn on or off. Then it wouldn't bother those who don't like it but would give the SLs the ability to choose the kits they want in the squad. But I don't know if anything like this is possible to do in the first place.

Well if an SL believes a player in his squad isn't pulling their weight and is just going after useless kits for their situation, that's what the kick button is for. I'd rather run with 4 good guys and an open slot than 4 good guys and 1 guy sniping on the other side of the map.

Good idea, but I'd stick with the voip control to increase teamplay- we deal with ppl not bots.

If they repeatedly refuse orders, kick

They should really be in their own 2-man squad of sniper/spotter, that suggestion being in another thread. A sniper isn't really too effective a squaddie unless it's a sniper squad.

yes, that's what I was originally going to say too.
But as the original poster replied

the kick solution doesn't do anything to this "problem" ( the "" there since I don't really think snipers are a problem, but some sure think so) since they will still get that kit and they are able to keep it even if they get kicked from the squad.

But overall the sniper issue is pretty small, so if this is possible it would be very low priority. (IMO)

None of the suggestions work for encouraging teamwork. I kick alot but I wish there was something that could be done to make people wanna work as a team. But as for the choosing kits suggestion It's not going to make people stick together, or cover you, or anything teamwork related, it'll just force them to play as kits you want. This kinda things tantamount to coding squads to have to stay within a 50 metre radius of the squad leader, It forces teamwork rather then encouraging it and that kinda thing will put off the Vanilla refugees.

it will get rid of the problem of "ohh.. let me jump into your squad to get a sniper rifle for myself" "ohh you kicked me, doesn't matter, I have my precious sniper rifle" *dude dies* "let me join back to the squad to get the sniper rifle" "kicked again, doesn't matter I have the rifle" [repeat as long as necessary]

but as I've said earlier this is a very small problem, and not worth the amount of work it would take to make this happen.

Yep use VOIP. If the team don't follow orders, simply kick them.

If the squad leader does not tell the team what kit to take, its his fault and he probably suck. Find another squad that does things properly.

Less is more :)

Everyone just keeps saying 'Kick' it works well... It does not they already have the kits and couldnt give a **** if you kick them.

It'd be nice if when you kicked people from squad you had to let 'em back in, that'd make it a little more useful, really annoying when you don't want a locked squad but don't want some nobhead pissing about.

nah, just kick em. Sure they have the kit- but they are probably gonna go die with it anyway.

There's always going to be a minority of stupid players, we just have to take the high road. Or become friends withe the server's admin...

I'm willing to take the high road I just wish they couldn't join my squad. It's well annoying having to stay on the squad screen to keep kicking them till the give up, and even then they end up back in your squad later alot of the time.

just use VOIP and if the person doesnt do what you want, kick him from the squad. you have to keep in mind that some people are awful with certain kits and you're not really helping by forcing these players into roles they're not prepared to fulfill. i like to ask for volunteers (except in certain situations where i will designate the kit). you're better off letting people choose their own kits most of the time.

i will put up with a lot as an SL:

-TKs
-not knowing how to play
-being a terrible shot
-accidents
-failure

however...i will NOT put up with someone playing apart from the rest of the squad. i have no tolerance for people who refuse to follow simple orders like "spawn on me" and "move to my location so i can set an RP". if someone wont take a kit you vitally need and have requested as the SL, that person should be removed. a bad squadmate can sometimes screw up an entire operation and, most of the time, you're better off without him.
