Let off some steam.

Post by <1sk>Headshot »

Anyone else play vanilla to let off some steam? I've played PR since just before the 0.5 patch. I've never turned back, never bothered playing vanilla. However after a long 5 hour sesh of playing PR very tactically I eventually started lagging terribly and our team was getting our asses handed to us. I disconnected and joined a 24 7 karkand 16p inf server and had an absolute blast!

It really was strange at the spawn screen having so many kits to choose from. I was being a complete noob, bunnyhopping and dolphin diving all over the place and ended up getting 82 kills to 19 deaths, pretty much soloing. With like 20 by paddles :p . I'm by no means a badass infantry player in PR either, just shows you the skill level in comparisin to Vanilla. It's the funny, the very reason I started looking for mods was after a couple of years it seemed completely pointless and that's the very reason it's enjoyable now and again. :)

Really does make you much more patient and gets that John Rambo voice in your head quiet for PR - when you need to spend 5 minutes to sneak up on that sniper or sit around defending a point all-round and realize no-one is going to come. Vanilla - in karkand inf anyway - is constantly quite intensive, however PR has more time and breaks between these intense moments, but they are always just much more intense when your fighting to keep those other 5 players alive like they would for you..

I'm going to try and do this before I play PR now. Anyone else agree or are you just going to do some snappy and imaginative comaback such as 'V@ni11a n00b!!1!!!1'.

Peace.

Lol i just tryed playing Karkand "PR style". Was a sniper for the entire round and finished with a 21 - 0 score :D . Was a 32 players server tho :) I hate 64 player Karkand, all those grenades annoy the **** out of me.

Nope haven't played vBF2 since Oct'05 and never will again (Totally hate the vBF2 Commander God-Kid) I play DCon, EOD, and N@W for run and gun play.

Accidentally, he should be unbanned soon.

Me and a couple of my clanmates loaded up Wolfenstein :ET and played the other night. TALK ABOUT RUN-N-GUN!!! Man was it fun, but it was so fast paced that when we came back to PR it was like culture shock or something. Everything in PR seemed so SLOOWWEEDD down. Even the bullets "seemed" to move slower. Kinda like a Matrix moment, or a bullet time scene from Max Pain. It took about 3 rounds before we could get back into the groove of things. It was a hell of a lot of fun though. Nice change of pace :)

some firefights in PR seem to last one continous 1 hour strech....

like defending one of the middle bunkers in kashan with JUST your squad while the other 24 players on your team wait at the airfield..... yea this has happened to me a couple times and the amount of enemy troops and fire that come at you is really intense...

but yea i havnt tried vanilla in a long time i should hop in again some time to see the difference hehe

everytime i end up playing vanilla though, i end up being a squad leader somehow, then VOIPing, and a bunch of vanilla players are like WTF??? and i end up pimping out PR to them and usually join a PR server with my new recruits lol so its not the same for me :(

I find that the best way to let off steam, is to create a one-man squad and fly around in the LB or enemy equivalent. Just cruise around enjoying the scenery, blowing up the occasional idiot black hawk.
