Merlin (possibly other choppers) too tough

Post by SuperTimo »

had a look couldnt find anything,

i think transport choppers are too tough yesterday i hit a merlin in the tail with an RPG-7 which in real life would not blow it up but almost certainly cause it to crash.

Is there anyway to make this more realistic?

the car mounted guns are crazy lethal vs helis, or is that just me?

Rpgs are a useless joke imo, you want something sploded?. you need a suicide car or a ambusher.

i was making a general observation.

and... actualy, i can get a jihad bike to the heli on its initial spawn, i have been known to smoke fully loaded helis with a c4 bike.

just wait for the rotor noise from just outside the base ^_^

I've hit a full blackhawk mid flight with a suicide car. Yes, its possible.

On a side note, in real life, its waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa~y harder to hit a blackhawk than you can in PR.

AAA, HMG's and H-AT's all eat helis. There are usually a few technicals/equiv lying around, and since anyone can jump in and drive them, get in the gun and open up. Even if you don't bring it down you're likely to scare him off. AAA takes no time once you're zeroed in, and H-AT...well...no contest really.

Bring back the Heli spin ! :) If it is not already ingame.
Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

RPG-7s shouden't be able to hit Air anyway, otherwise youll get a burned behind.. I believe insurgents modd RPG-7 with a Cone or something to conteract this.

Anyway, I would love to see that when you hit the Tail rotor, a Heli goes spinning

Its already in, Start a local server and bash your helis tail into something or shoot at it before you jump in. the problem is that it wont work on the interwebz due to the BF2 engine being the BF2 engine.

Sorry i didnt quite catch what you said at the last part about interwebz and bf2 engine limitations. SO it works on local server and not online? i tried to get it to spin but never succeeded. Thanks!

I found it this way, so dont ask for more clarification... :) RPGs do seem a bit useless espec when the helo just flies back and repairs...

If you wank to take the chopper out get in the 4WD ute wiht two people (driver and ammo man) then chase the bloody thing down it dose work as long as you have a good driver you will be fine.

Too tough? I think they're pretty weak. Enough .50 cal rounds and a light AT round will destroy a transport helicopter quickly. One light AT round is good enough to damage the helicopter and the occupants though.

meh IRL a hit to the tail would knock out tail rotor and then youd better get used to the idea of sppinning

i think tanks and apc's should NOT be able to shoot down helis. that is what AA is for.
.50 cal, sure, but please make it less effective or less accurate or something? right now its the only thing that actually shoots helis down.
rpgs/hat/lat/aa seems fine to me. it is possible for a chopper to take a hit and still make it home. however, i think we should have some weak spots, strong spots and like a 1 hit kill for the fuel tank.

almost all of the heavy choppers have more than one engine, so unless you hit the rotor or the cockpit i think you would see one make it out in real life if it was just a hit to the engine/fuselage

I dont think they can map the tail rotor indivually. The helis lose their 'rudder' when very low on health

It does seem disproportionate slightly but helis are definetly vunerable in general at present and Im not sure they can adjust it per weapon like that except if they increased RPG damage in general
