Or just join an infantry squad and have them to protect you in CQC, like you should?

I don't really see the need. Even if I would have the pistol I'd never use it.
The rifle is better for very close situations, you don't have time to use the iron sights anyway and the rifle does a lot more damage and has a bigger magazine.
If the target is quite far the scope is just as good as the iron sight.

So then you might be left with that little area where iron sight would be better than the 4x scope but yet it's far enough so that aiming is worth it.
If you get into that position then hide. You have 5 other guys in your squad too, so if you feel that you are at a disadvantage then just get behind cover and let your friends take care of him.

The only thing is you only get 2 spare mags though, so it's a little harsh when you have to burn through one to fight off a few infantry in close quarters. Would marksmen not carry more ammo in real life?

Well, I find Marksman useless now, except the USMC Marksman.

Mainly because the PLA, MEC and GB marksman rifles have got the same scope and zoom as rifleman and only difference is in accuracy and recoil.

USMC M14 has a x9 scope and greatly benefits the US team, since scoped iron sights are ineffective at ranges and M16 is only good at mid-range.

don't know about the amount of ammo they carry.
But since you should be moving with a squad getting ammo won't be such a huge problem. You can get ammo from so many places; cars, apc's, rally points, riflemen, support gunners, supply drops.

I've never really had problem with ammo.

I would think more than 2+1 mags.
lets ask Kennwayy, he uses one IRL!

Thankyou. The marksmens role is as follows.

Tail behind rest of the squad and when they call u up to engae a long range target u come and regroup on SL. he marks target and u kill. u should call rest of squad if u start taking fire.

Marksman is a squad member for all purposes, he just carrys a more accurate rifle then his squad and can provide rapid accurate fire - Marksman is not a Sniper.

I dont think the marksmen needs a pistol, just an extra magazine or 2 (if they still only carry 2 mags)

Of course we carried more rounds for or M14's IRL. Hell I had 6 mags usually for it depending on the mission. Problem is, with that many rounds it'd be a little imbalancing in-game an would create more of the 'zomg I'm almost a leet sniper whorz so i'll use this gun like that anywayz' syndrome.

put a dot in the middle of your screen if it bothers you that much. or just remember where "the middle" is. or just dont get into close encounters. how would you get separated from your squad anyway? if you do, you just go to them. you have the advantage of oversight and can take out enemies at a distance, so you should have no problem clearing a path.
