No, not enough said I think. What's the point of the thread? What is up with the m-14? I'm guessing you'd like to see it in the mod, but please state such things clearly in the future.
I'll give you some time to explain yourself. If you don't... Well... This thread will be closed.

the fact that the threads titled M-14 and its in the suggestion thread makes me think he wants to see it in the mod
I would have to agree IMHO the M-14 is one of the greatest rifles ever makde, its still in use today (mostly the DMR variant), and is having a bit of a rebirth so to speak in current conflicts as is the 1911.

Calm down dude, it's obvious what he's trying to induce: discussion about the m14 in this mod and the m14 in general.'[R-PUB wrote:Wolfmaster']No, not enough said I think. You know, that is exactly what all the posts so far have turned it into. So, everyone back on topic please.... Whatever the topic is.'[R-PUB wrote:Beckwith']...or else it could be viewed as spam...
We'll assume for now the reason for this thread is he would like to see the M-14 in the mod.
May the discussion commence.

would absolutly love to see it in BF2 but who uses it?
Harrod200:"Fire.exe has committed an illegal operation and has been shut down"
Raniak : "Warning: May crash if fired upon."
M4sherman: "like peter pan but with tanks"
[R-MOD]Eddiereyes909 (on sim tower) "It truly was the game of my childhood and has led to me getting my degree in industrial engineering."

It's been showing up in various forms a lot, lately, even though it never completely left. It has been used for service marksmanship competitions as the M14 National Match rifle for decades, and from these rifles were developed the M21 sniper rifle (which served in the Army from Vietnam until all units were M24 equipped in the late 80s/early 90s) and the M25 sniper rifle (an improved M21 used by Army SF and Navy SEALs since 1988 or so). The special operations community, particularly the SEALs, never gave it up on it in its battle rifle form, either.Hitperson wrote:would absolutly love to see it in BF2 but who uses it?
The Marines have used their M14 Designated Marksman's Rifle (DMR) since late 01/early 02, with its first field trials in Afghanistan. It was meant to be used as a DMR for Security Forces, Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team and Marine Security Guard units and an observer's weapon in a scout-sniper team. I have also heard of it being employed at the rifle platoon level.
Special operations forces use it in the form of the Mk-14 as both a DMR and battle rifle.
I have seen photos of it in various configurations (plain-jane, Enhanced Battle Rifle) in regular Army units as a DMR, including light (HMMWV) cavalry scout sections.

How about we add the m14 model in game? It's used extensively right now in Iraq. I'm from the hills of Appalachia and most of the people I aquaint myself with in every day life have fought in Iraq, two of which, childhood friends didn't return from Iraq this past year. (1 was to an IED back in April, the other, I'm sure you all heard about, one of the 14 or 15 Ohio marines killed in that 24 hour spacing back in early August, road side bomb as well.) My buddy who just recently left for Baghdad (cav scouts) carries the m14 and my cousin who just returned carries one as well. It's highly used over there, very realible in the desert conditions and adds a bit more pow to the punch it delivers versus the m4/16 not always stopping the insurgents/targets.
Was that expanded enough

'[R-PUB wrote:Beckwith']the M-14 DMR is a Designated Marksman rifle its also used by some SF team memebers because it fires a bigger round than the M-4
as my post above states, it's being used by regular forces as well as special forces. I know for a fact U.S. Army soldiers use it daily, scouts, infantry, etc etc, even tank crews carry some. Special forces soldiers have been using it more and more the past few years as well. As I stated, the round makes it a much more effective weapon against the insurgents. My buddies have told me about shooting some of those guys 2 and 3 times with the m4 and watching them limp away alive (for the moment). The m14 is LOUD, POWERFUL, and easily customizable with a few extra parts added to it. They've added a few metal parts to go along with the old fashioned wood stock models to make it easy to add ACOG sights to the stock, etc etc etc.

Yep. You seem to know your shit about the weapon, why didn't you post it in the first place?Squibb wrote:do you do anything for PRMM?
Sorry about your friends, BTW, one my best friends from HS is over there now and I haven't heard from him since he deployed. It's rather concerning, especially since he doesn't have any family to get the news from.
