if dust could be implemented so as not to cause frame rate drop and would be limited only to dry middle eastern maps I'm all for it

I totally agree and have been trying to create more dust in my own pr single player against bots but have not been very successful. Would love to see bigger explosions and dust. Also the black hawk deserves more dust or helidraft as what i see in the objects_server. I think the dust by black hawk would be so much if it lands on the street people cant see the hawk unless they're pretty far away. But this would mean teh lag fest so i rather no lag than dust unless more dust can be implement at no cost to the game play.

This is probably low priority unless it's easily fixable. Either way I'm sure the developers have it in mind.

Im okay with dust, but just looking at the rear of a tank or a smoke grenade makesme LAG.
Besides that, i like the idea

well if you lag you should get a better videocard, i would love more dust i really want project reality to look better then it is right now. i have it on max settings and i still think it could be better and little things like this would help.

The dust in the scan of BHD where Blackburn falls, most of it is CGI, with out it you could see the ground easily.

There should be more dust on bullet impacts on sand and on explosions. I remember seeing some dust clouds when bullets hit the ground and then were taken by the wind that could last like 30 secs in YouTube firefight videos.

why should the poeple with cards that could handle better graphics have to have crapy graphics cus people 5500gs cant play on low with some more dust.

how do you KNOW dust is going to make more lag?
if anything it could be likened to the "fog of war" effect of low draw distances.

by Outlawz7
Just use the BF2's 'economic' rendering distances and make it, so you only see a lot of dust when near the heli/explosion/bullet impact?

well you could make people with bad videocards only see the dust if they are really close but people with nice videocards could see no matter how far.

most people don't want to shell out $500 to make a $10 game and a free mod play with better graphics.
we have analyzed your point, please shut your trap.

a 7900gs would play it fine, they are like 100$. a 7600 would play it fine even and they are cheap. the game is like 3 years old and the graphics are too, sure they are good but they could be better.

again, give us the money
and yeah , it will create a lot of lag .

How do we know it'll lag ?
Dust is created by particles. Each particle has to be computed. The more intense dust you have, the more particles needs to get computed.
I'm not gonna give up CPU capacity to eye-candy.
Before someone suggests, giving more dust on high settings is no solution, as low settings may be flagged as a cheating.
Sure, I would like to get some new rig. Do you have 1000$ to donate ?

I agree, more dust. But only when it can be made the same for people with high and low graphical settings. 'Lowers' already have a big adventage atm, like with grass or bushes and shadows.
