My Final Suggestions.
To explain the title. I'm quitting Bf2 soon because things have come up and i cant play anymore. And i know i have made alot of stupid/useless suggestions in the past, So with all this renewed interest in Sniper/Marksmen i could finally chime in with some worthwhile suggestions on the kits i specialize in and redeem myself. And it would help those of us who specialize in Mid to Lang range target engagement/elimination.
Marksmen.
L86a2: I like many other PR players hate this gun for the Marksmen Role, It's too similar to the L85a2, Same zoom level, Same damage, It's only redeeming factor is the full auto mode which is awesome in CQC.(But takes away from original purpose) I suggest increasing clip count to 1+6, Upping the zoom level, Decreasing Recoil,(I know alot of people will hate me for this) And removing full auto mode to stop people like me from using it in CQC.(Sorry i cant resist it's there so i have to use it)
SVD: Great gun, Great damage, Great everything but it lacks enough rounds to be effective. I know the Mec will be getting the G3SG1 soon and this weapon will soon be only available to the Russians and Militia. But it would be nice to have more rounds maybe around 100?9For both sides Miltia SL and Russian DMR) Except for insurgents maybe 1+4?
M14: My absolute Favorite Marksmen weapon! Best zoom, Best Scope, But worst with rounds, It may only have 1+2 clips but they go fast with the 20 round capacity, You rarely notice how many you shoot because it takes longer to get between clips. And like Kenwaay said they do carry more clips then in PR. I suggest to increase the count 1+6 like the L86a2.(And likewise with the G3SG1 for balance) For a total of 140 rounds.
Qbu-88: The runt of the all Marksmen rifles really. It does have it's good sides but us Marksmen hate it's low ammo capacity, It is'nt as powerful as the 7.62 counterparts, Does'nt have as many rounds as the L86a2, And worst of all Requires I know this may sound like alot but 150+ rounds would be great as a balance to the M14's ammo count.(I know it's more) And a higher zoom level to match the M14.
Sniper.
Conventional Army: For all sides increase the round count to 60 from 40 because not always the first shot will kill someone, And Increase the pistol clip count to 5 because you never expect to use it but when you do it does not have enough rounds to keep you alive.
Militia Mosin: Skorpion please! With the same ammo capacity as Officer. I really hate moving to a sniping spot, Encountering enemy resistance, And having to resort to my precious Rifle rounds.
Insurgent Mosin: We are mostly alone in what we do when coming across enemies we're more screwed then Militia. No sidearm and No way to heal ourselves. Please add a pistol and field dressing.(Before anyone starts flaming me about getting caught with my pants down hear me out please! When setting up shop in the city sometimes you have an enemy at the spot where you wanna go and if they notice you... Bang your dead!)
General.
I know this has been suggested before by me and many others. But this is urgently needed. A designated Spotter kit.(Please dont close!)
As a sniper i find the best spotter to be an officer because he has the Soflam and a scoped assault rifle, He can determine range to target and let me account for bullet drop, The Assault rifle provides a greater chance of surviving a confrontation with an enemy then the pistol. I like that it's scoped because they can take out mid range targets and save me from wasting my rounds, What sucks is that with the radio pack they are very easy to spot and attack.
So please dev's would you please consider giving us a Spotter kit? A Scoped Assault rifle, Soflam, And a Ghillie suit is all it needs to be effective. In order to prevent this kit from being misused, Let only squads who have atleast 1 sniper request it.
Also it was fun playing with all of you thanks for the great Mod dev's it made Bf2 worth playing again.

Any reason why a sniper wouldn't have a range finder in his binoes ?
I know my dad did in danish the HJV (National Guard) as
a marksman, using a G3 with H&K scope btw.
We did some cruel setups with me as a spotter (a bit untraditional
as I was MG3 gunner), but thats another story.
I think the suggestions are good, nobody will go in without at least
100 rounds for a semiautomatic.
But then again in HJV we didn't get a sidearm ...

I think the devs want to support the idea of two guys working together as a dedicated team, not one shooting and doing stuff while his pal tags along with an ammo bagBo.Staahle wrote:Any reason why a sniper wouldn't have a range finder in his binoes ?

Any1 remember how snipers worked on Joint Operations? I thought that way seemed realistic.
But yea, observer kit would be good, but I wish there was a way for it only to be given to a sniper squad, so the balance with the other kits is pretty much maintained.
