Scores are out of whack

Post by Reyals »

I saw someone today get over 1500 points with out a single kill unfortunately I didn't get a screen shot 'cause you can't get them on the loading screen.
This one I did remeber to get a picture of.
http://matthewfindley.com/stuff/screen018.jpg
Just compared to the person right above my score
37 kills vs no kills and he has 100 more points then me?
Staying with your squad should be rewarded but the game is fundamentally about killing the enemy and caping flags and the most points should always be rewarded to those that are accomplishing that goal.

/my 2 cents

Edit: I was pretty much alone while sniping if anyone is wondering where all those kills came from.

He could have been driving a APC or tank, or following a tank with the support jeep giving it supplies..you can't get 1500 points while being useless.

Not exactly a fitting title for your thread considering the hours of work dbzao put into the score system. I mean, you can't just call it "out of whack" and then say you don't know what the guy was doing. He could have been driving an armor piece allowing his gunner to engage targets for the whole game, essentially aiding in numerous kills or he could have been a medic sticking with his squad and playing extra conservatively, keeping his squad in shape allowing them to engage targets for the whole game, essentially aiding in....numerous kills.

There's a bug with the score system in 0.613 that will zero out the teamwork points every now and then, randomly. He probably got a lot more teamwork points than that and as everybody else said, he probably was in a support role that gives a lot of points in this game. Just deal with it.

Yes! you guys completely missed the point with the scoring system. You should remove all teamwork points - teamwork is for sissies. You should get points for kills only, double points for killing a whole infantry squad with HAT. Players getting killing while being more than 200 m from any squad member should get double points, 10x points of more than 500m from any player on their team. Bonus points for saying the special secret words (noob, pwned, ROFLMAO!!!1111, etc.)

IMO the new system promotes teamwork. If u were lonewolfing as a sniper i dont see anything strange that u had less points than other teamwork player. Most of the time when playing in a team I have somethin like 700-1000 points as almost every member of my team. But there were times when I had even 2800, but I was team player. So if u after point just stick to your team leader and help your team. Thats the secret.

The way to gain more points as a sniper is to kill targets at a distance (only valid for snipers) and important ones (this is valid for any player, not just snipers).

For each 100m away you are from your target, you get your score multiplied (200m = 2 * points, 300m = 3 * points, etc). This is only valid for snipers.

Different kits have different worths and give more or less points. Here's the priority list you should keep in mind (valid for everybody):

1. HAT, AA and Snipers
2. Officers
3. Marksman and Support
4. Crewman and Pilots
5. The rest

Also if the player is a squad leader, the worth is bigger than a grunt with that kit, and if he is the commander, even more.

To get more points you could stay defending a CP instead of attacking an enemy one. For each kill you get while you or your enemy is 100m from a friendly CP, you get more points for that kill. Commander assets like bunkers, firebases and command posts the same.

If you get a spotter, you will get more points for him being there and assisting you.

I think this is it ;)

DEVs, did I mention I love you? I love you. There ya have it ;-)

This is fantastic. Finally an easy way to show people what priority targets are, and why they have to be killed first.

As a squadleader, I struggle to prioritise targets for my squad, now I know exactly what to tell them. Things like "kill the APC first, then the commander truck, then the vodnik, unless that tank becomes an immediate threat" are obvious, but in the past I found it hard to give good kill orders for enemy infantry in terms of priority. Fantastic job, and I'm looking forward to even more improvements in the point (=clever gameplay reward) system.

DEVs, I love you!

Basically I don't care about points, I care about not being killed. But I love it now when I do a good job for my squad for my "platoon" I get rewarded with points. And that's the priority. So down with the individual kids that are out for points without caring about the platoon. Much love to the new score system and dbzao.

You should learn from that, next time dont kill 37 enemies, simply stay useless around and hope someone do that job for you, for that u will get a Gold Star.

Or manage to get ur squad in vodnik, be SL, and ur friend commander also in ur vodnik, drive them useless around the hole round, then take a look at score.

The lesson is, there are normal way to improve teamwork (like in poe2 with apcs, for pr-tanks it means driver can get the mg and gunner lose it f.Ex.) and there are a pr way, make score system ad absurdum.

There are also other things, f.Ex. place C4 and mines takes less time than to nade someone with simple small granate.
Or a tankcrew for sure not hear a hitting them 120/5mm sabot round!

But hey, its project reality as we all know, in reality that one will win who dies everytime.

Ok maybe that's what it is. I'd assume that if he was doing something supporting (useful) like driving or medic it would have shown up in the teamwork score. I got no problem with that if that's where his score came from.

Just for the record I was present for a good portion of the flag caps on that map.

I "usually" have a pretty decent score after a game (around 180 to 350), but with no kills, because im always medic and following my SL like a crazed groupie
