Apache sluggishness

Post by Jvanherwaarden »

Does anyone else find the tail rotor response from the apache very slow. It was nearly impossible to maintain proper concealment or strafing a target to avoid fire due to not being able to fantail it resulting in poor sideways flight and slow snap turns. Pitch and Roll responsiveness seem to be great but compared to that the Yaw is like trying to fly a school bus.

after flying it around for about 3H on lan game its realy EZ to fly. but i cant seem to fly the other helos anymore LOL. but about the tail rotor response being slow well its all about the speed that you are moving fowared. if you need to do an hard turn at high speed you need to use your top rotor banking the way you need to turn aloing with the tail rotor at the same time " the harder you bank the faster you turn"

but ya flying like 3 ft off the ground at 1000 is cool and even flying under stuff is cool. even got the jack in the box down with it too. sweet for missels shots

now i just need my helo gunner to get off work the same night im off. then people are going to have h@ll to pay

I haven't flown the Apache enough to really give any constructive input, but I find the Cobra easier to fly at this point.

Yeah, cobra is much easier. But limited in operation. Whilst the apache takes a lot longer to fly it well... it is far better than the cobra.

IMHO, it fly like a HIND relying in airplane like controls banking and what not. It honestly should snap around as fast as the AH-6 when (whatever your left-right yaw button is) is pressed, but it doesn't it almost requires you to be at full tilt to get any type or turn down. This makes strafing and concealment(to best assets to the ah64) nearly impossible. To me it behaves like a slow version of a fighter plane with its limited yaw controls.

Yeah the faster your speed the less you can turn you need to bank instead
