They should not explode when they reach the damage limit unless they are hit by an explosion directly.
For example choppers. They should take damage and when they reach the a point it will lose power and fall from the sky and then if it blows up or not is another matter, but the crash is what should kill you. Mind you if its hit by a missle or HE tank round it should blow up, like that would do 100+ damage but bullets and small arms can only take it to 99 and it falls.
Same for jeeps and such, it should become unuseable but not just blow up, sure you might hit the fuel tank but even still that should be rare and the thing wont nessisarily explode, it should catch fire for a while and if you stay in it you will burn but you should have time to get out if you were not killed by the incomming fire.
I gotta run so this is an imcomplete thought, but discuss anyway....

I agree completely.
EVERYTHING in the game needs to revamped so that it 'burns out' and stays immmobile and burning for about 1 minute before it blows up (or never blows up if possible).
Things should only blow up when hit by something that should make them explode.
I know this would take forever to code, but its a priority i think.
You either take gradual damage from bullets till something has reached its capacity to function (more realistically this capacity is only deminished by bullets hitting key areas, fuel, drive, etc) or you instantly blow up from a large explosive.
If the explosive isn't that large, then it blows up, but your vehicle just stays in that burned out kinda thing, like from an rpg hitting a humvee or somthing.

I do agree.
But i think there is three main options that you can go for.
First option. you could leave the vehicles there burnt out with no respawn. This could be an option, but if there is no way of repairing the vehicles then your going to end up with no vehicles very quickly.
second option. You could also leave the burnt out vehicles but have more vehicles respawn. You problem with this is it would eventually cause a lot of lag and the place would turn into a junk yard.
Third option. Vehicles do not explode unless hit by a tank shell, etc. but eventually just disappear and then respawn.
