Nope, ingame armour is armour, you either have it or you don't (currently only SpecOp ic unarmoured, but if you pick up another kit after spawning specop, you're still unarmoured)

You only have armour if you spawn as one of the 4 classes except for spec op in a conventional army (and Militia IIRC). So insurgents don't have any armour.
As Harrod said, you either have armour or you don't, so there is no difference in how much armour a kit has.

You keep the armour/not armour you spawn with, so if you spawn as spec op and pick up a another kit, you won't get any armour. On the other hand if you spawn as a class with armour, such as rifleman, you will keep that armour until you die.

Basicaly you cannot "loose or get armour" once you spawned as respective classes, you either have it or not.

I was bored.

Yeah, you keep the armour you spawn with. Occasionally I'll spawn rifleman and grab someones SF kit if I feel like being random for a bit.

i guess i can see why they made SF unarmoured. seens as SLAMS will do damage once placed no matter what. i guess the DEVS wanted ppl to be able to bring em down quickly before they placed ther slams unlike engineers which need to remote detonate em

Plus they have a full auto carbine with (usually) a red dot sight. In CQB an armoured SpecOp is very powerful. Spawning without armour helps even the playing field a bit, tho an armoured person using a SpecOp's pickup is still just as powerful.

I think there are high and low armour values, as well as a no armour value.

If I remember correctly all of the militia armoured kits have low armour value, whereas most of the conventional army kits have high armour value.
