LAW's

Post by Hitperson »

Can we add these to a LAW class so we can take out technicals with one shot but it takes 6 to take out a tank. this could replace an unwanted catagory/a catagory that doesn't feature in the map.

Then it would have been easier to simply say "jeeps" ;)

Technicals are improvised, low tech vehicles. Jeep in the military term usualy refers to perpose built, specialised vehicles. ;-)

Single shot, disposable light anti-armor weapons are not the weapons of a dedicated, "full-time" anti-tank gunner. They are issued at the rifle squad/section level to provide some measure against an armored threat (usually fired in volleys from multiple positions) or hardened target. A few riflemen in each squad/section may carry one with their primary weapon and basic load. In PR, the rifleman class will have a single-use LAW (of a type appropriate to whatever faction) as a secondary weapon option or random kit item. :)

Right now the NLAW is still in low-rate production and being phased in pretty slowly, so the UK has the L142 Interim Light Anti-Tank Weapon (ILAW), which is an AT-4 (Confined Space), supplementing or replacing the heavy LAW-80/94mm in Afghanistan and Iraq.

erm, the MILAN is being replaced as we speak by Javelin AT system as the British main mobile AT capability. I know this because my unit is making the transition from Recce to AT. 16 Air Assault instructors are receiving training in December 05 - May 06, with the first British front line units taking delivery of the Jav. systems in June. The training however, will take about a year to ensure everyone's compliant with the weapons system. I am due to go over to England to do some training course on it,along with the Platoon Cmdr, and Firing Post Sgt's so we can come back and train our Platoon.

EDIT: *grins at the sight of top-splash AT missile. Like a can of beans...*

We placed the milan in as right now the javelin has only been started to be phased in during the summer of 05. there is a high possibility that the javelin will be coded in, but probably when it becomes more readily avaliable to the British Army.
