I have this obsession from Playing PR
Ever since i first played PR on .5 basrah i have wanted every mod from then on to be like PR to some extent.(Even vanilla in some cases) Every mod i have played since then has paled in comparison to PR, I have never felt any excitement from any mod after the initial "novelty period" wore off. But PR is different the fun factor and gameplay really really stick and rarely deteriorates after time. I am in love with PR and it's gameplay(And i really think that love is just a bunch of bullshit to make us have kids and distract us from this painful existence)
Anyway on to why i made this thread. I was playing Battlegroup frontlines mod today and i was really disappointed at it really. ;( I know it's made by BSS the same great studio that brought PR into the world. But it doesn't hold a candle to PR for me, I know it's the first release but there is no teamwork in this mod! Noone wants to squad up! Everyone is out looking for the sniper rifles, And the apparent lack of nametags makes teamkills so frequent it has turned many people off. Dont get me wrong this mod is fun sometimes! But these things really do hold it back.(I was secretly hoping this would have been PR:WW2 in disguise)
So let me ask you people out there reading this do you have my obsession? To see every mod you play after PR be like PR in one way or another? And i just dont mean field dressings, Lack of crosshairs, Ammo count removed, etc.
I mean by the amount of teamwork you see in one round of PR is usually more then you'd see an entire day on a vanilla server, Or the commander actually commanding and not fighting, And snipers knowing their place and sniping!
P.S. i had one good round with mrhatcollection being sl because we were all working as one.
P.S.S. I am pretty good as support though, It may not be accurate but damn it's fun on Operation Barbarossa to frighten enemies into thinking their is more then one of you.

I agree with everything. I never realized how much I took AASv2 for granted. I don't think I can ever play a mod for more than a few hours that doesn't have it.
There was only one time BGF felt really good. When by chance everyone was assaulting a little farmhouse at once. German soldiers were inside shooting at as all while everyone else charged, stopping intermitintly to squeeze of a round or reload behind a tree. That was luck apparently, teamplay sucks in this mod.

Defineately in love with PR, I don't think the Devs actually realise the potential Modding franchise theyre sat on top of.
I personally would follow the PR mods wherever they go, it'd be a real shame if parts of the dev team leave to do other things and it all simmers away.
Every game I've begged for more realism, PR delivers that realism, now if they can do it for other games too
...Ker-ching
Who else here would buy a game only if you heard from here it was being PR-ified?
I would
Thats gotta be worth money to a game developer somewhere, and who knows might even keep PR free
(except for donations of course, now wheres that button
)
PR for everything forevvver!!!

I tried CoD4 the other day. Didn't take long before I decided to play PR again instead.
I agree!!, put the egos aside, and join forces..lol. I played BGF a dozen times, and really do not have much interest in returning. Its a shame, coz I am a WWII history buff. My Grandfather (who was a medic in the 11th armored division thunderbolts) who fought in bastogne and much of the time thereafter, really got a kick out of the old weapons and machinery that he used day to day. He sat there telling me what to do..it was really funny.. The sad reality though is that the mod needs ALOT of work. Man, if it is at all possible to use the PR settings, this mod would be really good. I am not going to armchair bash anyones hard work, but hopefully the devs can fix this one and make it better. I love the idea of WW2PR. Sounds tasty..

EXACTLY as Clypp and Nick0 says
PR owns any mutliplayer tactical warfare game you'll ever play.
I've heard so many people even saying the should PR 2142, cant think how much reality you can get from it but tis true, i think all games should have to be filtered through a PR filter before being released to the public :

Guys we cant force another mod to adopt PR specifics or it will seem that we are elitists! We can suggest and let the modders decide but nothing else or it will create a backlash against PR and PR players! I've seen it before on other bf2 mod sites! Hell there were some people suggesting their to be a PR for Hl2 awhile back! And they got banned off filefront. (Or was it fileplanet?) Anyway guys i just wanted to illustrate the point that most mods for me just dont do it anymore after i played PR. Because their is really no teamwork and lots of vanilla "noobs" who just want to taste the cake but not eat it.
Btw guys it would be great for some of us with the skills and know how make an expansion pack for PR
Kinda like the FH devs with Forgotten honor.

I agree. PR stands head and shoulders above the rest.
On the subject of BGF I will agree that the teamwork is utter ****, but it has a good bit of realism. Also, the uniforms are much less similar than they are in PR, at least for me playing on low.
But forcing other mods to become more like PR is not elitist. It's because we're right!

all other mods ive seen in BF2 seem to pander to the regular BF2 crowd, ie. the gun totting, rambo 1337 sniper. That in my opinion is a bad thing for those mods. The crowd that plays such games, have such a short attention span that they are constantly jumping from the newest game to the next. Thats why PR has the largest community, we stick with PR, while PoE for example have been losing people. I don't see any of those mods having a lifespan of more than a few years, so they should all just give their modles and assets to PR

Exactly my point, all other mods are just that, a nade spewing, snipe fest catering to the crowd that wants the biggest guns. Those mods dont have a long lifespan, really really wish we could use those asstes in PR. Nothing else is in the market like PR except Arma.DavidP wrote:Poe has been losing people because it's just bf2 with a different coat of paint.

RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!!!
Do not post stupid suggestions just because you had a bad round in PR
