Why not add a sonic boom to the aircraft that breaks the speed of sound!

Maybe becasue it is not possible?

Its not an aircraft sim, aircraft are a support option. Planes need to be able to fly shoot, land, and rearm. Oh, and blow up. Some limits need to be set on how much the devs are going to work on any given project, and I imagine they don't put sonic booms high on the list.

Also, that would be quite annoying, assuming it could be implemented. Sonic booms every 2 seconds, because planes fly much lower and closer to ground forces in PR than IRL.

Anyone else imagine how obnoxious it would be to set your throttle right at the mark and hit "W" and "S" over and over

Maybe add it to the ambient sounds of the battlefield.

I think this would be a cool effect...You're walking around in Kashan,then you see an F-16 fly by and a small ring of smoke looking stuff appear around it,and a small boom...The boom could be the sound of,say,the 30mm. on a Warrior firing once...I dunno...

Its quite neat in real life. I don't think its even possible in PR, and is essentially meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

Its a neat idea, but gampelay comes before neat little graphical and audio tricks.

ok maybe im wrong, but i thought jets usually stay under the speed of sound. just cuz they CAN go like mach 3, doesnt mean they always do.

speed of sound is about 1225.04 km/hr. ive never flown in PR but i dont think the jets go that fast unless your pounding on the afterburners

I think it may be possible. In FH2, the stuka's sirens can't be engaged unless you are going fast enough. I'm not sure if the same modifier(s) can implemented for a item which is not directly player controlled though. Better ask the coders/audio guys about it.

I will be passable. Set it so when the plane reaches a certain speed it will play boom.ogg and release a smoke ring. I am sure you can put variables in BF2 but not certain my friend is a modder not me.

Std. speed when I'm flying F-16's on here is like 1,950...Then I kick in afterburners and it goes to 2,000 something.

well i dont think that the jets in pr go super sonic, i remember someone saying the 1000 bf2 mphs things is about 200mph in real life so you would have to go about 3700 to go faster then the speed of sound, so unless we get some 8km maps the speed of sound would be way to fast for pr, also with cas tweaking the planes turn rate and things like that i know that you would have a very very hard time fighting in kashan at mach 1.

This is BF2,just a mod,so we would use the BF2 tupe speeds correct?Not real life speeds.

yha but this mod is project reality, note that word reality. so i fwe want the mod to be real we will have to wait for huge maps then we would be able to have realistic speeds and then the sonic boom could be in game.
