Has anyone noticed the effects that the music from the jihad car can have? Ive noticed when its used proerly and not just beeped all the time you can scare apcs out of their positions into RPG fire, even if you can't drive at them. You can also unless it annoys folk use it to rally insurgent troops and greatly piss off the british ones (Rave in the VCP!)
I'm not sure whether this was the intention of the cantina music but the effect is powerful
What I'm getting at is is there any more ways we can add to this effect? Perhaps as having a few taunting shouts for the insurgents. most of the insurgents warfare is terrorism and to incite fear in the enemy.
I think everyone sees my point I won't go on too much... yet.
There is of course a fine line that needs to be drawn with this as it could get excessive I don't mean to offend folk and there is the "Too real?" question to be asked but I say is the cantina music too real? I mean more stuff like that to scare enemies
People are afraid of it, because they know, it will kill them. Or it did before.
It's like using the M14 to fire upon an enemy squad, even if they could suppress you back with support guns, they know, they can get sniped, so they hide.
Anything that adds atmosphere is great for realism. Another point ide like to raise would be a call to prayer coming from the mosques. Nothing is more chilling than a tense patrol through the night, all is silent, then a call to prayer echoes all around at first light. It had a real psychological effect on all of us as we could hear the enemy preparing ambushes on the ICOM scanner and you just felt like Taliban were being rallyed...
I like the idea of the insurgent shouting things. No-one really uses the Insurgents commo-rose except for the obvious ones. Maybe we could replace a few with religious taunts and threats. Or am I stepping too far into boundaries that would offend others?
"Computer games don't affect kids, I mean if Pac Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music."
Out and out psychological warfare isn't all bells and whistles, screaming aircraft and jihaad car music. People need to think about useful distraction methods first.
1) carefully ordering an ammo crate on an approach to a cp that no one is going for (a SL can have 3x crates down at one time on map)
2) sending a couple of guys in your squad to create noise and diversion to make the enemy think you are attacking from one direction, when your main force attacking from another (silently!)
3) using the "ammunition out/reload" shout when not out, to trick the enemy into running into you when you are ready and waiting!
4) same again with the medic request shout. After taking heavy fire at close range, a lot in the squad asking for medic like they are wounded needing reviving makes the enemy think you are all down and they attack, only to find out you are again ready and waiting.
5) creating an RP in a likely position, where the enmy will know to go look, can hear maybe, then running around the enemy to other side, creating a new RP after the enemy drawn out of their cp and run in to attack enemy cp from different direction.
All things I rarely see, if ever. Let's see some interesting gameplay going on everyone! It's gotta be worth the giggles afterwards.
[R-MOD]Mongolian Dude: AH man, sarcasm is so hard to get across the web, even if we are both british [R-DEV]Jaymz: That has to be...the most epic response to a welcome thread I have ever seen. [R-CON]Mr.D ladies and gentlemen!
I love getting a pair to lay smoke and create loadsa noise at one entrance while the rest of us silently slip in the other...
Love the idea for the call to prayer thats exactly what I mean, Still time for it for 0.7? thatd be great to hear as your at a distance along with the echoing gunshots... Realism too, It'd creep me out

I believe there was a thread about allahu akbar "voice" taunts and such
AFAIK the devs don't want to make any sort of political statements so adding that to the game is not a priority ... or ever going to be, same with the choice of a new insurgent flag.

Propaganda leaflets were definitly used by us in Helmand. On Operation Silicon we dropped leafletts telling all civilians to leave the area and that anyone left behind seen with weapons will be killed. We also patrolled through with loudspeakers attached to vehicles taunting the Taliban saying how they are destroying afghanistan, how they are weak and even our female soldiers are better than them as they are running. It was all to incite them to stay and fight, it worked...
More ambient sound effects like in street. Hearing a loudspeaker echoing around a map from a base. Here aircraft flying far overhead. Generally making the maps more immersive.
