Disrespectful players ...

Post by Sergeant_Banner »

Map: Kashan 64
Server: T&T
Team: USMC

After joining the game, MEC had just started attacking North Village. We had 2 A10s up in the air, and an F16. I told my team i would stay at base to help keep these important assets repaired/armed. All is good.

North Village is soon overrun with MEC forces and capped. sqeaky voiced 9 yr olds start waiting at base for UBER A10. just as that happens, one is shot down. I take commander role after previous commander resigns.

*presses V button as hard as possible* RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT ! SQUAD 1 DEFEND BASE, 2 HAVE EYES ON NV AND SQUAD 3 ATTACK OUTPOST !

*more blue spots appear at base*

*V* MOVE YOUR F**KING ARSES ! (at this point squad 2 were spooting all activity at NV and squad 1 were spread around base flag, naturally, i commend them.

I now speak to the rest of the team.

SQUAD 3 ! GET YOUR ARSES TO OUTPOST NOW !

The reply i got was: *stern voice* No.

If it wasnt for the very sensible Gunwitch, i would have kicked the whole bloody US team there and then.

Discuss.

Sarge

P.S I would like to thank the A10 pilots of that round, who were Jamesmcdivitt (sp?) and another guy(sorry dude, forgot your name), who were grateful of my base support and i was grateful of their awesome flying. Cheers lads.

yeah well, i understand how you feel :( the A-10 is formidable though and i'd love to fly it as well sometimes but I agree on the squads barely listening to their commanders anymore...
I hope this won't get even worse now that commanders can't really build anything anymore themselves...

Don't run the 64p Kashan and you won't have 1337 kiddies crying for the gAy-10.

would it be possible to make it so that a commander would be able to deny any kit request for a squad?

I really wished parents would keep there kids out of theese kinds of multiplayer games. I dont care if they play violent games but little kids sub 14(and most still arent mature enough to be a valued member of an online community, granted there are some :D ) just should be kept off the internet.

That , as has been said before , is the problem with online gaming. Immature idiots (and they aren't all sub 14 either. Some are quit a bit older).

Some say bots are dumb but TBH , sounds as if you'd have had a better round playing with bots.

Trick is to find a GOOD server (few and far between) with a GOOD bunch of reg's (few and far between).

*sigh*

its the INTERNET, what do you expect. just becuase you give a F*** dosent mean the guy next to you dose no matter if hes 14 or 40...

i dont feel blaming people that are 14 and younger is a solution Beastgraphix, as i have met people more imature and abuseiv that are way over this age limit. Just because your balls havent dropped dont mean you dont like teamowrk :)

As the popularity of PR grows the influx of some rotten apples dose to!

I don't see anything wrong with what they did. It's a game, they want to have fun, and having fun may not be "going to the VCP"

I have said no to a commander many times because I was doing something completely different than what he had in mind.

Now if this happened to you as a SL, I'd understand, since you choose which squad you want to be in, but you can't choose your commander, so don't expect everyone, or tbh anyone, to follow anything you say if you haven't proven yourself a sensible or able commander, especially if you come off as too full of yourself or too forceful.

How would you have kicked them without admin banner? :P sorry hehe
thats the problem at the moment in 0.61. Just how easy it is to get up and fly and bomb things etc. the new changes are gonna make these dudes work a lot more for the team.

As for the guys who constantly spawn back at base to check on uber a-10edness are just sad. There should always be a specific air attack sqaud on kashan, problem is no one ever listens cos theyre far to cool to follow orders from some "other" gamer
Hence bringing another problem that the CO only needs squads for shovels, transport pilots are taxis, support is ineffective etc etc etc all these things fixed in 0.7 :P

The only problems you can't fix are idiots. no more 50.cal barrats so no more "wheres the trigger" :@:@

Just some people are so retarded they cant accept the orders from someone with more experiance just because its "their" game and they wann have fun with the cool jets.
The problem is planks like that tend to gather in clusters but still dont get on. So the result is an idiotic child with a mind that he knows better than all the "idiots" around him and that he'll save the day if he gets in the A10. They dont follow orders because: hey if I go there I'll get shot, nevermind communicating that fact cos "noooo one will listen"

Ok a few paragraphs and I still can't figure out what I wanna say...

if you know better then tell your SL that, if he's good then he'll take your advice and use it or he will give you a good reason why the SQUAD is not going to do that.

Still can't find the point I'm trying make here... Roll with me, we'll get there

In short...ish: A team should think and act as one and its the SLs and the COs job to orchestrate this. in a full game you have about 6/7 people coordinating the movements of 25 others on land, sea and air, attacking and defending, Resupplying and transporting.
Thats a frigging big job... The key is DISCIPLINE it may not be fun to hide behind the hill and not shoot your gun, these kind of things will kill the whole squad in 0.7 so they NEED to be done.
As long as you have an SL/CO with VOIP (only very very occaisionally without VOIP) Who is trying hard then you should fall in line and obey his orders! if hes pants then he'll ignore good suggestions and act a general idiot (admin!) However new playing features are gonna take this burdon off the admin a lil, making more players turn onto smacktards

People need to follow orders or put up a dam good debate as to why not. I've seen my father happily control a Barracks of around 300 men. So I think we can manage 25 ;)

DISCIPLINE!

There's a point up there... somewhere... maybe using the da vinci code will find it...

Tis fine to disobey orders if there's no point to them, you're too far away etc. but if you don't point that out to the commander then he cant do anything.

Yes it is a game BUT its a reality modification with a community dedicated to teamwork and organised gameplay. If there are countless people are not contributing towards the fun of this style of gameplay which we're all insterested in because theyre waiting for an A-10 to spawn or something along them lines, Then those players are the sort that aren't wanted or needed.
There's enough games where you can piss about in shiney toys, Of course not all commanders are perfect but were all playing a game and all having fun in some way, I keep saying if an order is stupid then debate! chagne it! work WITH the commander not against him, he's a very useful asset to the whole team, as are you if you follow orders, the bits you can't see are the orders the CO is giving the other squads.

If more people would just play how this mod has been designed to be played instead of being so self important of the fact theyre on "Their" game (which is given to them for free of course...) to have fun with "Their" A-10. You wanna do that buy lock-on, play FH2 for shiney easy to fly things. Do something to contribute towards the game as a whole or just go away, thats all I have to say on the matter.

TEAMPOWER!!!!!!

P.s. Always slap the CO for..."uhh everyone just go to the attack marker" if they refuse well. thats for vanilla, go play that if you just want quick fast bangs and glitter ;)

Well, since we're discussing my server here, I'll add a little something.

Our server has a rule that players MUST follow Squad Leader or Commander orders. If they do not, they are kicked. It's perfectly acceptable to question the orders, or make suggested alternatives, but if the order stands it MUST be followed. Other servers aren't so strict, but we're called Tactics and Teamwork for a reason. Seems some players close their eyes when they click Connect.

They might want to have fun, but they also spent a fair amount of time downloading a teamplay and reality oriented mod. Perhaps those terms need explaining to some? If they want to 'have fun' doing what they want and not what they're told, then they can do it elsewhere.

Perhaps we need a new commander asset - a stockade - for all those insubordinates who don't follow orders. Or perhaps a new 'firing squad' limited kit.......

I like the idea of the firing squad kit :D

Loadsa fun can be had if the whole squad and team follows orders, even if theyre stupid.

AHA ive found my point at last!... If I was a dev I'd probably have a lot more passion (considering the hours of work this mod takes) but here it is! ok ready...?

THERES MORE TO LIFE THAN SPENDING HOURS DOWNLOADING A 3.66GB REALITY (TEAMWORK) MOD FOR A GAME SEVERAL YEARS IN THE MAKING TO JUST WAIT ON TARMAC TO SPEND 30 MINUTES FLYING AN A-10!!!

P.s. When I make a squad and it'll fill full of some random folks (maybe some members too) when they follow me around, round after round after round :P I like to think its because they enjoy playing in a squad that always sticks together and has a clear cut objective all the time, no matter what.
Sometimes we'll sit on a defense marker, and nothing will happen for ages... then all of a sudden a vigilent SM spots someone, the (my) squad will react to the threat TOGETHER and eliminate it. Following orders brings a whole other dimension to gameplay, more people should try it.

The only thing I enjoy more than ordering an effective squad into battle, is being ordered myself into that battle by a CO :P

What else to do you wanna tell them than to read the manual ?
You answer on one question, they give you 2 more.

Example:
Where can I get kits ?
You have to request them.

Where ?
At the main base, rally-point, bunker or firebase.

How ?
Use the squad-commo-rose.

What ?
...

But back to the topic.
I agree on the number of 'bad' players in general had increased. Maybe it's because of the holidays, maybe not. Whatever it is, it certainly messes up our game. I read all the replies 'They wanna have fun', but hey, I wanna have fun too. And losing the game because of some idiots wasting assets won't entertain me. With this kind of logic cheating should be OK too, because they're having 'fun' too, aren't they ?

Just like few days ago something completely similar to poster's experience happened too.
I was commanding Chinese team of Qwai and next to the fact, that I wasn't really good (in other words, I pretty much screwed up in the beginning), I had one German squad (no 6) that was, ehm, a bit problematic. At the moment we got pushed back to Fishing Village that got neutral, the said squad was at Gov Building. I've tried to call them off and before I finished talking to them, the Village got captured so we had to defend 2 flags but still try to attack one more. After explaining them the situation, that we are pretty much done back there, the squad's SL just replied with completely stern and mature voice: 'No'.
At the moment all other squads were getting pissed off on me, because they were getting wasted all over the map but squad 6 was still hopping around the Government.
Now I was getting pissed off too. I knew that I had significant role in the team's failure that I wanted to fix and the fact that 1 squad is just ignoring my orders was pretty much screwing my plans. Well, I told them to 'Get back to the f*cking village' on what the SL started yapping about my and the team's inability. OK, just as I said, I screwed up, but staying at the uncappable flag instead of attacking the only cappable one is damn stupid too.
Well, in the end, we've managed to get them move to estate (that got captured BTW, just as Temple - so it was only the main left). I still had a tank squad on disposal so with a good intent to help, I contacted squad 6. Just before I finished 'Squad six, how's the' the friggin squadleader just told me to 'Shut the fuck up'.
I don't know how long after that that freak disconnected, but I was so damn happy because his place filled some completely sensible guy !

Hell, after this, we've managed to do some major offensive, that led to recapping Temple, Estate, Fishing Village and even Government Office and Processing Facility (we even had Mine for some long time). Unfortunately just when it was about to decide the round (last 80 tickets), the server crashed.

Ive had the same problem with the GER only squads multiple times. Seems like once they get together they decide they can do what they feel like doing. Ive tried to win without the help of an entire squad but as you probably noticed deadfast, its pretty fukin hard.

This problem is ALWAYS going to exist. Some rounds will be worse than others. The only thing we can do as a community is to keep advocating TEAMWORK and communication. When I am a SL, I incessantly require my Squad to freaking RESPOND to my orders. It is up to us as SL's to make sure that there is communication. I simply kick people from squad if they cant follow directions and/or answer orders. THe commanders require communication from the SL's. If the SL sucks, more than likely the squad is gonna be lame. It would be great if a commander could kick a person from being a SL. However, I do understand that that would be a huge powertrip for some people out there with low self-esteem...lol. My observation to Teamwork is that when AIR is taken out of the mix (JETS), then teamwork gets better.,..its even better when AIR and ARMOR are taken out. Infantry only servers IMO by far have the BEST teamwork and intense rounds. This is just my observation, and I am not against armor or air, but all of my most memorable rounds have come from inf. only rounds. Seems that you take out the "lone wolf superstars" who are really good with the A10 or Tank. Guess thats why I like Street so much..LOL

If you come to play PR, you are joining a game focused on teamplay. If you just "wanna have fun" by camping for the A-10 go play some other mod. Personally I like T&T's rules. Do what you are supposed to and you'll have fun by playing as a team, even if you don't win.

Why do you/they even play PR?
Sadist_Cain wrote:The key is DISCIPLINE it may not be fun to hide behind the hill and not shoot your gun
Those kind of things is what (to me) makes the game so good. Following orders and carrying out various tasks. Playing a game with 100% action all the time (like bf2) is a bit of an overkill.

There was some server which had a password and people had to register on it's forums to retrieve it. It worked great and the l33t h4xx0rzzzz weren't there since they didn't wanna bother with registering on the forums. It'd be great if there could be 3 servers or so like this. Passwords could be changed after a certain period, perhaps every week.
