Fire teams/Ordering System

Post by gclark03 »

What I'm requesting is just a way to divide a six-man squad into two fire teams either by allowing a SL to place up to two order markers or changing the squad system itself.

Using the multiple SL order system, a squad leader could, for example, order both an attack on a given position and a move marker to flank. If the squad is organized enough, the fire teams will know what their specific order is and move accordingly.

I believe this is hardcoded, but it would be nice to see the fire team system supported by the squad interface. (Answers?)

Aside from that, we need to get rid of some of the more useless or vague orders, such as mine and destroy, because they are rarely executed and often directed verbally by the SL with another marker. In their place should be suppress and grenade orders, or something to that effect - anything more relevant to the normal infantry squad.

^^ by explaining what you need your squad to do usully works.I tend to find that if one is droping markers like crazy people sometimes get confused!

Sadly, even VOIP won't stop this thread from dropping like a rock in the Suggestions forum.

Anyway, this kind of coordination isn't always there, so a bit of software support for fire teams would help. I didn't even know about using fire teams as a SL until late in .6, and I started in early .5 - how about the new .7 players?

It seems likely that this is hardcoded. So far the PRM DEVs have done very little tweaking with the basic squad interface, if any. I just don't think its an easy to modify system, and I'm sure that if they could have allowed fireteams to be created the would have done that by now.
