about the IEDs

Post by baptist_christian »

I really think the graphics should change. dont they seem a little too small to make such a big explosion?

my suggestion is to make them look more like artillery shells. after all, most IEDs are made from unexploded artillery shells

So our insurgent models will carry around artillery shells instead?

Personally, I see where you're coming from, but it doesn't matter that much. IEDs are quite conspicuous because of their coloring, and even if they were larger I don't think it would have much impact on gameplay. Also, since they aren't buriable (although this is possible within the engine), it makes sense to have a smaller charge than is being simulated.

Not all IEDs look the same. Soldiers never know what the next IED they see might look like, so it is harder to look for them. Is it possible to have several models for the IED that all look different? When you spawn, your kit would contain IEDs that look one way, while someone else would get IEDs that look another way.

I think they work nicely as a balance for the fact we cant bury them etc.

A favorite trick is also putting IEDs in curb segments.

But with the BF2 engine if every IED is a great big arty shell, it'll be a tad obvious.

Just tihnk of the two tubes of semtex as the explosive warhead salvaged from the shells if you like :)

Isn't the definition of IED improvised explosive devices.

Surely this means that each one is whatever they could get their hands on?

So no standard can really be applied?

Exactly, read my idea.
